Wise women – The precious stone

Wise women – The precious stone

with No Comments
A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream.
The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food.
The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the women to give it to him. She did so without hesitation.
The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew that the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.
But, a few days later, he came back and returned the stone to the wise women.

‘I’ve been thinking,” he said. “I know how valuable this stone is, but I give it back in hope that you can give me something even more precious? Gift me what you have within you that enabled you to give me this stone.

– “Happiness resides not in possession’s and not in gold. Happiness dwells in the soul.” – Democritus

More often than not in today’s society we place more importance on material possessions than the precious gems found within us. Linking happiness to possessions will keep you on a treadmill to no where, once the initial chemical rush in your body has settled from buying and owning the item, you will want the next thing. Be happy first and then the rest becomes a nice little bonus. Happiness is a choice, why would you choose anything else?
