Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Isaiah 15:1-18:7, Galatians 1:1-24, Psalm 58:1-11, Proverbs 23:12
Appointed by God, Not Man
“I was not appointed by any group of people or any human authority, but by Jesus Christ himself and by God the Father, who raised Jesus from the dead.” — Galatians 1:1, NLT
To be appointed is to be chosen and set in place by authority. Paul makes it clear: his authority didn’t come from human hands. No one could do what God did—change him, teach him, and equip him. He says, “I received my message from no human source… I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:12, NLT).
After this encounter, Paul didn’t “rush out to consult with any human being” or run to the earlier apostles. He pressed in to God. “Then three years later I went to Jerusalem to get to know Peter” (Galatians 1:18–20, NLT). Years later, when the other apostles heard him, “they had nothing to add to what I was preaching” (Galatians 2:6, NLT). Heaven had already done the work.
Paul understood: “Even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace” (Galatians 1:15–16, NLT). So did He with you. You were handmade by the Master—with purpose, loved, and chosen. It pleases God to reveal His Son to you, to teach you, and to send you. If we will diligently seek Him, He will fill us with His Holy Spirit and instruct us. When we “commit [ourselves] to [His] instruction” and “listen carefully to [His] words of knowledge” (Proverbs 23:12, NLT), we can live with confidence—because ‘there truly is a reward for those who live for God’ (Psalm 58:11, NLT).

Prayer
Father, thank You that my calling comes from You—not from crowds, titles, or human approval. Teach me by Your Spirit, anchor me in Your Word, and send me in Your grace. I choose to press in to You first and to walk out what You reveal. In Jesus’ name, amen. 💎
