Transformative Prayer: Listening in His Presence

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Jeremiah 22:1-23:20, 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12, psalm 83:1-18, Proverbs 25:11-14

A Treasured Life of Honor

Jeremiah asked the false prophets a sobering question: “Have any of these prophets been in the Lord’s presence to hear what he is really saying? Has even one of them cared enough to listen?” (Jeremiah 23:18, NLT). That same question presses into our own hearts. Do we enter into His presence to listen? Do we even care enough to wait for His voice, or are we content to run on without Him?

Paul reminds us: “So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do” (2 Thessalonians 1:11, NLT). Because we believe, Jesus fills us with His Holy Spirit, and it is the Holy Spirit who prompts us into the ways we should go, the words we should speak, and the work we should do.

When we respond to His voice, He gives “timely advice that is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket” (Proverbs 25:11, NLT). And when we are willing to receive correction, “to one who listens, valid criticism is like a gold earring or other gold jewelry” (Proverbs 25:12, NLT). These are more gems of knowledge that He adorns us with when we live in relationship with Him.

Even when hardships and persecution come, He does not leave us – He is with us! Paul says God uses these trials to mold and refine us, to “make you worthy of his Kingdom” (2 Thessalonians 1:5, NLT). He promises justice, rest for the weary, and honor for those who endure. And in the end, “the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ” (2 Thessalonians 1:12, NLT). 💎

5 Minutes with God (Action)

Take five quiet minutes today to simply listen. Ask: “Lord, what are You really saying to me?” Write down any whisper, any prompting, even a correction. Treat it like a precious jewel placed into your hands—an adornment of wisdom, grace, and truth.

Prayer

Lord, I pause to listen. I want to hear Your voice above all others. Adorn my life with the wisdom of Your Word, and shape me with the gentle correction of Your Spirit. Strengthen me in trials, and let my life honor Your glorious name, Jesus. Amen.
