Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Jeremiah 28:1-29:32, 1 Timothy 1:1-20, Psalm 86:1-17, Proverbs 25:17
Filled with Love
“The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.” — 1 Timothy 1:5 NLT
Paul cuts straight to the heart: real faith produces love—not performance. But this love flows from three things: a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.
- A pure heart loves God without hidden agendas—no chasing platforms, just a desire to know Him.
- A clear conscience walks in integrity—quick to repent, quick to obey.
- Genuine faith is relational, not religious. It’s rooted in trust, not rules. Jesus becomes your Teacher, not just your Savior.
In contrast, verse 7 warns of those who want to look wise but don’t actually know Jesus. They use the law to appear holy. But Paul reminds us:
“The law was not intended for people who do what is right.” — 1 Timothy 1:9 NLT
Before Christ, we needed the law to expose our sin. But now, filled with the Holy Spirit, we desire righteousness. We don’t avoid sin because we’re afraid—we avoid it because we’re changed.
“Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.” — 1 Timothy 1:14 NLT
And if we cling to that kind of faith, we won’t become shipwrecked:
“Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some… their faith has been shipwrecked.” — 1 Timothy 1:19 NLT
This is the difference between religion and relationship. One relies on self. The other trusts the Spirit. And those who walk in this way begin to despise sin and love holiness. When we begin to walk in relationship, trusting the Holy Spirit within us, we can also become a light to others so they don’t get shipwrecked either.
We become love with genuine faith just like David prayed in Psalm 86:11–13:
“Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor You… You have rescued me from the depths of death.” 💎
Action: 5 Minutes with God
Set aside five quiet minutes right now. Close the door. Put your phone away. And just be still before the Lord and let Him speak as the Holy Spirit searches your heart. If anything is off, don’t hide it—hand it over. He’s merciful. He’s ready. He’s generous with grace.
- Ask Him, “Lord, is. my heart pure, my conscience clear, and my faith genuine?”
- Journal what the Holy Spirit whispers.
- Then ask, “What do you want me to know about that?”
- Journal what the Holy Spirit whispers.
- Then ask, “What do you want me to do?”
- Journal what the Holy Spirit whispers then do it!
Prayer
Jesus, I want real faith—not the kind that looks holy but is empty inside. Clean my heart. Keep my conscience clear. Let my faith in You be genuine, full of love and truth. Teach me, Holy Spirit. I want to walk in righteousness and love, not because I have to—but because I love You. Help me to love like You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
