Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Ezekiel 7:1=9:11, Hebrews 5:1-18, Psalm 105:1-15, Proverbs 26:28
Mercy’s By Mercy
In a vision more gripping than any movie scene, Ezekiel sees God’s judgment about to fall on Jerusalem. Six destroyers, weapons in hand, are ready to strike. But one figure stands apart—a man in linen, carrying a scribe’s kit. His mission? To go through the city and mark the foreheads of those who mourn over its sin.
This wasn’t a literal tattoo or scar. It was a spiritual seal—a visible sign in the unseen realm that this person belonged to God and was grieved by what grieved Him. That mark wasn’t just a label. It was a line of protection, a banner of mercy, a sign that judgment would pass over them—much like the blood on the doorposts in Exodus.
In ancient times, a king’s seal was pressed into hot wax to confirm the authenticity of a decree. It was binding—unchangeable. It declared identity, authority, and ownership. In the same way, when God marks us, it’s as if the King of Kings presses His seal into our hearts and spirits, saying, “This one is Mine.” His seal protects, preserves, and sets us apart for divine purpose.
We live in a world not unlike Ezekiel’s Jerusalem—one where sin runs rampant and people celebrate what they should mourn. The question is: Are we marked? Do we carry the sorrow of Heaven over the sins of the world? Are our hearts pierced with holy grief? Do our lives reflect the seriousness of God’s justice and the depth of His mercy?
God still marks His people. In Revelation 7, angels are told not to harm the earth until God’s servants are sealed on their foreheads. This is no superstition—it’s a divine distinction. God knows His own. And He doesn’t just mark those who attend church or know the right answers—He marks the ones who are truly brokenhearted over wickedness and who long for righteousness to reign.
In a culture that marks itself with rebellion, pride, and performance, may we be found marked by mercy—sealed by the King, and set apart by a deep love for Him, a hatred of sin, and a heart that beats with His.

Prayer
Father, mark me. Not with religion or rules, but with Your heart. Let my soul be grieved over what grieves You. Seal me with Your mercy and set me apart for Your purpose. I don’t want to blend in with the world—I want to be known in Heaven as Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.
