Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Ezekiel 12:1-14:11, Hebrews 7:1-17, Psalm 105:37-45, Proverbs 27:3
Will We Listen?
“Son of man, you live among rebels who have eyes but refuse to see. They have ears but refuse to hear, for they are a rebellious people.”m -Ezekiel 12:2 (NLT)
The Lord spoke this to Ezekiel in a time when rebellion was rampant. People refused to heed God’s warnings. Their senses worked—but their hearts were hardened. They had eyes, but refused to see. They had ears, but tuned out the truth.
Sound familiar?
Today, we live in a generation that mirrors the rebellion of Ezekiel’s day. People want direction but seek it in horoscopes, psychics, tarot cards, and “spiritual guides.” They chase insight through dark avenues but expect peace from the Prince of Peace. They want God’s rescue, but not His reign. His blessings, but not His boundaries.
But God doesn’t call this harmless curiosity—He calls it rebellion. And rebellion isn’t just stubbornness—it’s spiritual treason.
“Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.”
—1 Samuel 15:23 (NLT)
Let that sink in: Rebellion is as detestable to God as witchcraft. When we resist His Word and try to mix in other “sources” of wisdom, it’s not just error—it’s evil.
Just like in Ezekiel chapters 7–9, we see idols set up in people’s hearts—selfishness, pride, power, false religion—and even those who call themselves believers are sometimes found playing both sides. It’s like building flimsy walls and slapping white paint over them. They look good from a distance, but they’re hollow underneath. God sees through it all—and He promises that He will tear it down.
Why? Because He loves us too much to let us live in deception.
God doesn’t want robotic obedience—He wants unity. He longs for us to walk with Him in truth, holiness, and relationship. Not just in crisis—but in covenant.
The question is:
Will we listen?
Will we repent when He corrects us?
Or will we keep whitewashing our rebellion, hoping He won’t notice? 💎
Action
🔥 Examine your heart today.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any “whitewashed walls” in your life—areas where you’ve looked spiritual on the outside but compromised on the inside.
Write down anything the Lord brings to your mind. Confess it. Repent. Tear down the idol before God has to.
Then, ask the Lord:
- “What do you want me to know about that?”
- Journal what He whispers through the Holy Spirit
- Then ask, “What do you want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers then do it!
Let this be a day of reckoning and recommitment to the One True God, Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to see and my ears to hear. I don’t want to live in rebellion, even if it’s hidden behind religious activity. Forgive me for any area of compromise—any idol I’ve set up in my heart. Reveal it, and by Your grace, tear it down. I want to be one with You—not just in word, but in truth. Give me courage to walk in holiness, even when others around me refuse. Let me not be counted among the rebellious, but among the righteous who truly belong to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
