Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Ezekiel 16:42-17:24, Hebrew 8:1-13, Psalm 106:13-31, Proverbs 27:7-9
The Bride Returns
“But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for He is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.” – Hebrews 8:6 (NLT)
Yesterday, we were face-to-face with the pain of betrayal in Ezekiel 16. A bride who had been rescued, loved, and adorned turned her back on the One who gave her everything.
But that’s not where the story ends.
In Hebrews 8, we see the mercy of God writing a new chapter. Jesus—our perfect, eternal High Priest—establishes a new covenant, one that is better, stronger, and anchored in grace. This isn’t a marriage doomed to fail or a covenant built on flawless performance. It’s a relationship founded on the faithfulness of Christ.
Where the old covenant exposed sin and required punishment, the new covenant offers forgiveness because the price has already been paid.
Jesus didn’t just propose to you—He paid your debt, rewrote your past, and offered you His righteousness in exchange for your rebellion.
And now, the invitation is simple but life-changing:
- Believe in Him.
- Accept the covenant.
- Apply it daily through faithful love.
This is not about perfection. It’s about direction.
We’re no longer punished like under the old covenant—but when we sin, we must repent quickly and run back to our Bridegroom. Not out of fear, but out of love.
There is no sin too great that Jesus can’t forgive—if the heart is real and we choose Him again and again. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
🔥 Examine your heart today.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas in your life where you need God’s mercy applied. Write down anything the Lord brings to your mind. Confess it. Repent. Tear down the idol before God has to. Then, ask the Lord: Then, ask the Lord:
- “What do you want me to know about that?”
- Journal what He whispers through the Holy Spirit
- Then ask, “What do you want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers then do it!
Let this be a day where you recommit to the Bridegroom who sealed His love with blood and calls you His own.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for becoming my High Priest—for making a new way for me to walk with You in love, not fear. Thank You for the better covenant, built on better promises. I believe in You. I accept Your invitation. Help me apply this covenant to every part of my life. I choose to be faithful to You—not just in words, but in heart, thought, and action. And when I fall short, help me run to You, not away from You. You are the Bridegroom my soul longs for. In Your name, amen.
