Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Ezekiel 24:1-26:21, Hebrews 11:1, Psalm 110:1-7, Proverbs 27:14
Faith That Reveals
“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” -Hebrews 11:1
Hebrews 11:1 isn’t just a poetic phrase about belief—it’s a blueprint for how faith gives us access to unseen realities. It’s the mechanism by which heaven’s truth is revealed to human hearts. When we understand this, the story of Cain and Abel takes on new depth.
Abel didn’t just bring a “better” offering—he brought the right one. By faith, he saw what pleased God. He understood, by revelation, that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin. His offering of a lamb was not just a ritual—it was prophetic. It pointed forward to the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, whose blood would one day atone for all sin.
Cain, on the other hand, brought an offering from his crops—fruit of the ground that looked good but lacked the revelation. He brought what made sense to him, what he was proud of, what he considered best. But his offering was not based on what God had revealed. It was worship on Cain’s own terms. Faith was missing, and with it, understanding.
This is what Hebrews 11:4 confirms:
“It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man…”
Abel had access to truth through faith. Cain relied on reason and pride. One walked in revelation; the other walked in assumption.
This is the difference faith makes: it opens your eyes to what is true—even when you can’t see it with natural eyes. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes with God today to let Him speak His truth into your heart and mind. Ask the Lord:
- “What do you want me to know about that?”
- Journal what He whispers through the Holy Spirit.
- “What do you want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers—then do it!
Let this be a day of faith-fueled clarity and deeper intimacy with the Lord.
Prayer
Jesus, I don’t want to bring offerings of pride or performance. I want to walk by faith—real faith that listens to Your voice and follows Your ways. Help me to recognize when I’ve given You my best efforts instead of Your revealed will. I surrender my opinions, assumptions, and self-made altars. Give me a heart like Abel—one that sees what is unseen and offers what is pleasing. Show me the Lamb, and teach me to walk in the truth You reveal.
