Living Faith: From Belief to Action

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Ezekiel 37:1-38:23, James 1:19-2:17, Psalm 117:1-2, Proverb 28:1

Faith that Obeys

“‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord!’”
Ezekiel 37:4, NLT

Ezekiel didn’t just believe in God—he obeyed Him. When the Spirit of the Lord carried him into the valley of dry bones, every part of the encounter must have been shocking. Bones covered the valley floor. The Lord asked him to speak to them. And when Ezekiel obeyed, he heard a sound—rattling. The bones came together. Sinews formed. Flesh grew. Still lifeless, the Lord told him again: “Speak to the winds.” Ezekiel did. And the breath of life entered them.

None of this was normal. None of it was comfortable. All of it was supernatural. But Ezekiel obeyed.

That’s the kind of faith that moves the heart of God. It’s not just believing He can—it’s trusting Him enough to act when He speaks. That’s what made Ezekiel a mighty prophet: not his title, not his visions, but his obedience.

“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions?” (James 2:14, NLT)

Even the wind obeyed the word of the Lord. It rushed into that valley at His command and raised up a vast army. If the wind listens, how much more should we?

When Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can move mountains,” He wasn’t just referring to size—He was referring to substance. A mustard seed knows what it is. It obeys its design. It never argues with its Creator. It simply grows into exactly what it was made to be.

So why don’t we? Why do we hesitate, delay, or resist? Why do we say we have faith but live in fear, doubt, and control?

Let’s repent of halfhearted faith and passive belief. Let’s turn our hearts fully to God—believing that He placed in us everything we need to become what He created us to be.

“Faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.” (James 2:17, NLT)

Faith must do. Faith must speak. Faith must obey. Because real faith produces movement—life—resurrection power.

In Proverbs 28:1, we’re reminded that “the wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.” Why? Because they have faith! Because they trust their Shepherd. Because they know the voice of their God and they follow without fear—even into a valley of dry bones. 💎

Prayer

Father, I don’t want to just say I believe—I want to show it through my obedience. Give me the boldness of Ezekiel, the faith of a mustard seed, and the courage to act when You speak. Let me not shrink back, but stand in faith even when what You ask seems strange or hard. I trust You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
