God’s Conquering Ground

“He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though He is surrounded by light.” -Daniel 2:22 (NLT)

The Holy Spirit once whispered to me,

“You never have to be afraid of the dark because that is where I am. Then when you find Me, I will illuminate your heart and mind, and the dark becomes My conquered ground. Darkness is only what you make of it. It creates fear in some because they do not know Me, so they fear whatever else may linger there. But I am above it all, and I created even those things that are feared.”

Darkness can be unsettling. It represents the unknown, confusion, grief, and fear. But to God, darkness is not a threat—it’s territory waiting to be redeemed. When He enters it, it becomes light. In our darkest moments, He’s not absent; He’s working behind the veil, revealing deep and mysterious things we could never learn in the daylight of comfort.

The psalmist said, “Even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You” (Psalm 139:12). And John reminds us that, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it” (John 1:5).

Sometimes the Lord allows us to walk through seasons of darkness—not as punishment, but as invitation. It’s in the dark that we learn to hear Him more clearly. Like Daniel, we can trust that God reveals what is hidden when the world around us feels shadowed.

When the darkness comes, don’t fear it—search for Him in it. For He is there, and where He is, light follows. 💎

Spend five quiet minutes with God today and ask Him:

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this today?”
  • Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
  • Journal what He whispers – then do it!

Listen for His whisper. Let His light fill your heart and mind as He reveals His truth and secrets to you.

Prayer

Lord, I thank You that darkness is not dark to You. When fear and uncertainty surround me, help me remember that You are already there—turning the night into light. Reveal what is hidden, and let Your light conquer every shadow in me. Amen.
