Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Daniel 6:1-28, 2 Peter 3:1-18, Psalm 119:129-152, Proverbs 28:21-22
Becoming Faithful
In Daniel 6:4, the prophet Daniel is described as “faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy.” What a legacy to be known by! His integrity was so consistent that even his enemies couldn’t find fault. But how does someone become that kind of person?
Psalm 119 gives us a clue.
In verses 129–131, the psalmist declares:
“Your laws are wonderful. No wonder I obey them! The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. I pant with expectation, longing for your commands.”
This kind of hunger doesn’t come from obligation. It comes from revelation. When we seek God with diligence and allow His Word to light our path, our hearts are changed. Daniel wasn’t born faithful. He was made faithful in the fires of prayer, obedience, and intimate relationship with God.
Psalm 119:147–148 says:
“I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in Your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about Your promise.”
If we want to be like Daniel—trustworthy, faithful, unshakeable—and if we want to pant with expectation like the psalmist, then we must live a life of intentional pursuit. That means:
- Rising early to cry out to Him
- Meditating on His promises through the night
- Asking the Spirit to teach us His Word and help us understand so we may live
This kind of devotion changes our inner life—refining our hearts, transforming our desires, renewing our minds. Over time, it cultivates the same character seen in Daniel and the psalmist.
Faithfulness isn’t accidental. Passion for His Word isn’t either. They are both forged in the presence of God. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Spend 5 minutes today in honest prayer and seeking. Ask the Lord
- “What do you want me to know about this today?”
- Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask Him, “What do you want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers – then do it!
Let this be a time of drawing closer, experiencing His goodness, that you may long for Him more.
Prayer
Father, make me trustworthy like Daniel and teachable like David. I don’t want to just know about You—I want to know You. Create in me a hunger for Your Word and a passion for Your presence. Light up the dark places in my heart and make me faithful, joyful, and wise. In Jesus’ name, amen.
