Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Daniel 11:2-35, 1 John 3:7-24, Psalm 122:1-9, Proverbs 29:1
The Path We Choose
“Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning.” – (1 John 3:7-8)
We can claim to love God, but our actions always tell the real story.
1 John 3 cuts right to the heart of the matter: “Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.” (v.10)
It’s heavy — but it’s truth.
We all have a choice which path we take. One leads to life, the other to destruction. The sobering truth is that our daily actions show which path we’re actually on. If we could see with our natural eyes the spiritual realities ahead — the fiery torment of hell or the glorious joy of heaven — we would all choose differently. But God has shown us plainly through His Word.
It’s our love, our righteousness, our fruit, that reveals where we truly belong. And more than words, it is our actions that prove it.
“Let us not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (v.18)
Our actions will show that we belong to the truth. (v.19)
You may not think of yourself as someone who hates, but 1 John says,
“Anyone who hates another brother or sister is really a murderer at heart.” (v.15)
That’s strong language. But we must ask ourselves — are we giving life or causing damage?
When Christians speak hate while claiming to love God, the spiritual wounds can be devastating. Some people never recover. Some even walk away from God entirely — not because of who He is, but because of how His people treated them.
That’s spiritual murder.
But here’s the good news: Love is always a choice. And it’s never too late to start choosing life — for you and for those around you. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes with God today. Ponder with Him whether your actions prove you faith, or expose you flesh. Ask Him:
- “What do You want me to knwo about this, Lord?”
- Journal what He whispers through the Holy Spirit.
- Then ask, “What do you want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers – then do it!
Let today be a day of choosing Love as He breathes truth into your heart and mind.
Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve chosen death over life — through words, thoughts, or actions. Help me walk in love, righteousness, and truth. Let my life reflect You clearly. Open my eyes to the spiritual realities of my decisions, and help me live like I belong to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
