Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Daniel 11:36-12:13, 1 John 4:1-21, Psalm 123:1-4, Proverbs 29:2-4
Look to the Lord
“We keep looking to the LORD our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.” — Psalm 123:2 NLT
There’s something beautiful about this image.
A servant watches their master closely — not out of terror, but because they’ve learned to read every movement, every glance, every signal. They know what the master wants before it’s said. They are loyal, attentive, and always ready.
But here’s the truth — what kind of master determines the kind of servant.
A cruel master creates fear. But a good master creates love and loyalty. We have a good Master — kind, trustworthy, full of mercy. We don’t watch Him with fear, we watch Him with love. Not because we’re forced to obey, but because we want to. We trust Him.
1 John 4:16 says, “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love.” That kind of knowing doesn’t come from a sermon — it comes from experience. From time spent with Him. From paying attention. Like the servant, we don’t just watch — we learn. And as we learn, we become like Him.
His perfect love drives out fear. And once we see Him for who He really is, we’ll never serve anyone else again. 💎

Let today be a day of watching and learning from the Master.
Prayer
Lord, You are a good Master. Help me to keep my eyes on You — to learn from You, to know You, and to become like You. I don’t want to serve You from fear, but from love and trust. Show me more of who You are so I can walk closely with You every day.
