Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Zephaniah 1:1-3:20, Revelation 10:1-11, Psalm 138:1-8, Proverbs 30:11-14
He Brings Us Peace
“The LORD will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever.” – Psalm 138:8 (NLT)
When I asked the Lord what He wanted me to focus on in today’s One Year Bible reading, He answered simply: love and forgiveness—the treasure of peace that flows from forgiveness. As I reread the Scriptures, I struggled to see it clearly. I told Him so. And this is what He spoke to my heart:
“There can be no forgiveness or peace without love. Once you have My love, you will love Me. You will seek forgiveness, and I will freely give it. Then you will have peace. Your heart changes. Your mind changes. Your perspective changes.”
Peace does not begin with circumstances—it begins with love. As God fills us with His love, He teaches us mercy, grace, and compassion. We begin to love differently, see differently, and walk differently. Forgiveness flows freely—both received from Him and extended to others—and peace takes root in our hearts. We don’t just experience peace; we become peacemakers, carrying it outward in love and forgiveness.
Today’s Scriptures reveal a stark contrast.
In Zephaniah, we see the turmoil and destruction of the wicked—those who cling to sin and refuse repentance. They have no peace because their hearts are filled with hatred, jealousy, anger, and contention. What lives within them is what they create around them. But God promises that the humble—those who seek Him—will inherit forgiveness, peace, and joy.
In Revelation, the Lord continues His work of cleansing the earth. He is preparing a kingdom of peace. He is the Prince of Peace, and what He removes is not love, but everything that opposes it.
In Psalm 138, we see the opposite of the wicked heart—a life filled with thanksgiving, joy, and confidence that flows from knowing God’s faithful love and forgiveness.
And in Proverbs, we are shown the hardened heart: proud, corrupt, destructive—incapable of peace.
The contrast is unmistakable.
Forgiveness leads to peace.
Peace flows from love.
And love is found in Him alone – the Prince of Peace Himself, even Jesus Christ.
” But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve…But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:25 (NLT) 💎
