Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Zechariah 12:1-13:9, Revelation 19:1-21, Psalm 147:1-20, Proverbs 31:1-7
Trusting God Through Change
Sometimes when we read God’s Word—especially passages about judgment or the end times—it can feel unsettling. The wrath of God can sound frightening, and many struggle with fear when they don’t yet understand His heart. But God wants us to know this truth: it does not have to be scary for those who belong to Him.
We came into this world to experience life—to learn, to grow, and to be shaped. Growth often involves change, and change can feel uncomfortable or even frightening. The unknown always does. Yet nothing becomes better or more complete without transformation. God reminds us that when we are His, change is not something to fear—it is something to hope for.
The Lord who calls us into change is not reckless or cruel. He is the One who “stretched out the heavens, laid the foundation of the earth, and formed the human spirit” (Zechariah 12:1). His power is absolute, and “His understanding is beyond comprehension” (Psalm 147:5). He sees far beyond what we can see, and His plans are filled with hope for His people.
Instead of worrying about what is coming, God invites us to look forward—to rejoice. “The Lord is rebuilding Jerusalem and bringing the exiles back” (Psalm 147:2). This is not destruction; this is restoration. When we allow Him to rebuild us, He “heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). He strengthens what protects us, blesses our children, sends peace, and satisfies our hunger (Psalm 147:13–14).
Yes, Scripture tells us we will be refined—“tested like silver and purified like gold” (Zechariah 13:9). Refining requires fire. But this fire is not meant to destroy us. The Refiner never looks away. He never lets go. He draws us through the flames and brings us out purified, stronger, and glorified.
God is preparing His Bride. And for those who belong to Him, the end of the story is not wrath—it is celebration. We will be clothed in “fine linen, pure and white” (Revelation 19:8), and we will proclaim together, “Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb!” (Revelation 19:9).
What feels frightening at first is actually God’s loving work of preparation. When we trust Him, fear gives way to hope, and hope leads us home. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take five minutes with God today and ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want me personally to know about this today?”
- Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers – then do it!
If fear surfaces, don’t push it away—place it in His hands. Let today be a day where fear is exchanged for hope and anticipation of what He is building in you.
Prayer
Lord,
You are the Creator of heaven and earth, and You formed my spirit with care. Forgive me for the times I have feared Your work in my life instead of trusting Your heart. I choose to believe that You are good, faithful, and purposeful in all You do. When change feels uncomfortable or unknown, help me remember that You are preparing me, not harming me. Hold me close through the refining, heal what is broken, and fill me with peace instead of fear. I trust You with what is ahead. Amen.
