Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Genesis 8:1-10:32, Matthew 4:12-25, Psalm 4:1-8, Proverbs 1:20-23
Waiting With Hope
After we choose Jesus and enter in, our journey of faith does not end — it deepens. God often calls us to trust Him in seasons where the way forward is unclear and the waiting feels long.
In Genesis 8, Noah waited inside the ark while the waters slowly receded. The storm had passed, but the future was still unknown. He was on the ark for a year. That’s a long time! He did not rush ahead. He waited for God’s timing, watching and listening, until the dove returned with an olive branch — a sign that life and promise were ahead. God had not abandoned him. God was already preparing the way.
When Jesus began His ministry in Matthew 4, He did not call the qualified, the secure, or the certain—He called ordinary men in the middle of their work. “Come, follow me,” He said, and immediately they left their nets and followed Him. They did not know where He would lead them, what the cost would be, or how their lives would change. What they did know was who was calling them. And that was enough. Jesus did not abandon them once they followed—He walked with them, taught them, protected them, corrected them, and remained faithful even when they faltered. Their story reminds us that when we respond to His call, even without full understanding, we are never left alone. The One who calls us also commits Himself to us, every step of the way.
David understood this kind of trust. In Psalm 4, he cried out in distress, yet rested in confidence:
“You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests… In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.”
David trusted God even before he saw deliverance — and that trust brought peace.
God speaks the same invitation to us in Proverbs:
“I will share my heart with you and make you wise.” (Proverbs 1:23 NLT)
When we trust Him instead of panicking, He shares His heart. When we listen instead of rushing, He gives wisdom.
Trust does not mean understanding everything. It means believing that God is faithful when we cannot yet see the outcome. He is in our tomorrows. He is working for our good. He will not abandon us.
If we will wait, listen, and trust — He will lead us safely into what comes next. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes with God today and ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want me personally to know about this today?”
- Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers – then do it!
Let today be a day of trusting God more fully and learning to seek His presence to sustain us.
Prayer
Lord,
I choose to trust You, even when I cannot see what comes next.
When I feel surrounded by uncertainty, teach me to wait without fear.
Quiet my anxious thoughts and help me rest in Your faithfulness.
Like Noah, help me trust Your timing.
Like David, give me peace that allows my soul to rest securely in You.
When I am tempted to rush ahead or rely on my own understanding, remind me that You are already in my tomorrows.
I believe You will not abandon me.
I believe You are working for my good.
Pour out Your Spirit on me and share Your heart with me, that I may walk in wisdom and obedience.
I will wait for You.
I will listen for You.
I will trust You — even when I cannot see.
Amen.
