Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Genesis 20:1-22:24, Matthew 7:15-29, Psalm 9:1-12, Proverbs 2:16-22
Get To Know Him
When I asked the Lord what He wanted me to see and talk about today, He said, “Welcome Me in like a friend, and I will care for you like a king.” That invitation set the tone for everything I read today—because Scripture makes it clear that God is not seeking performance, but relationship.
We see this lived out beautifully in the life of Abraham. In Genesis 20–21, God protects Abraham and intervenes on his behalf with King Abimelech. Abraham is not striving to control the outcome or prove himself worthy—he is walking with God, and God actively cares for him. This relationship deepens even further in Genesis 22, when Abraham is asked to offer Isaac. This moment is not about sacrifice alone; it is about trust. Abraham obeys because he knows God’s heart. And once again, God proves faithful—not because He has to, but because He loves.
Jesus later gives a sobering warning in Matthew 7:21–23. Some will claim spiritual works and religious accomplishments, yet hear the words, “I never knew you.” Their problem was not effort—it was intimacy. They did not build a relationship with Him. They knew about God, but they did not truly know Him.
That is why Jesus urges us to build our lives on the Rock (Matthew 7:24–27). A life grounded in relationship with Him will stand when storms come. Religious activity cannot sustain us—but walking with Christ can.
God invites us to know Him personally—to learn His ways, experience His goodness, and trust His heart. When we truly know Him, trust follows naturally. As Psalm 9:10 reminds us, those who know His name trust in Him, because the Lord never abandons those who seek Him.
God proves Himself faithful—not because He is required to, but because He delights in caring for those who walk closely with Him. The question is not whether He is trustworthy.
The question is whether we will choose to truly know Him. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Today, spend intentional time with God simply to know Him—not to ask for anything, but to listen and learn. Invite Him into your thoughts, decisions, and daily life. Choose relationship over routine, and build your life on intimacy with Him. Journal everything He says or shows you so you always remember and hold on to it as your rock in the storm.
Prayer
Lord, I don’t want to merely know about You—I want to truly know You. Teach me Your heart. Help me trust You, walk with You, and surrender my life fully to You. I welcome You in as a friend and place my confidence in Your loving care. Thank You for being faithful and near. Amen.
