An Amazing God Revealed Through Psalm 18

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Genesis 42:18-43:34, Matthew 13:47-14:12, Psalm 18:16-36, Proverbs 4:7-10

God Reaches Down to Rescue Us

Yesterday in Psalm 18:1–15, we saw how deeply God loves us—how He is willing to shake the foundations of the earth to rescue His people. Today, in Psalm 18:16–36, we see even more clearly who God is and what He does for those who belong to Him.

God reaches down from heaven and pulls us out of deep waters (verse 16). When we are overwhelmed, sinking, or surrounded, He does not remain distant—He comes to our rescue. He saves us from enemies that are too strong for us, both seen and unseen (verse 17).

When attacks come, God faithfully supports us through them (verse 18). He never leaves us or forsakes us. He leads us forward, and His leading always brings us to a place of safety (verse 19). And then Scripture tells us why He does all of this:

Because He delights in us.

That truth alone can change everything.

When we walk in integrity, God shows Himself faithful and true to us (verse 25). To the pure in heart, He reveals His own purity. He rescues the humble, but He exposes pride for what it is (verse 27). God doesn’t do this to shame us, but to lead us back into truth.

He lights our way like a lamp in the darkness, guiding both our minds and our spirits so we know which way to go (verse 28). He gives us supernatural strength—strength to overcome every enemy and to do things we never thought possible (verse 29).

God is perfect in all His ways, and He always keeps His promises (verse 30). Always. He is our protector and shield when we look to Him. There is no one who compares to Him—no one else can do what He does (verse 31).

He is our solid Rock—unshakable, immovable, perfect in love and faithfulness (verse 31). He arms us with strength to overcome and makes us new creations in Him—clean, holy, and secure (verse 32). He lifts us to places others cannot reach, giving us new perspective, peace, understanding, and the ability to walk there with confidence and ease (verse 33).

God equips us with skills, talents, and spiritual gifts so His Kingdom can expand and be defended (verse 34). He promises security, victory, and comfort, fighting our battles for us and assuring us that our future is with Him forever (verse 35). He supports us in all things, strengthens us, and makes a way before us so we do not fall (verse 36).

What an amazing God.

When we see who He is and how He loves, the response becomes simple:

I choose Him.

“Surely Your goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6) 💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Today, take 5 minutes to reflect with God. Ask Him:

  • What do You want me to know about this today, Lord?
    • Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?
    • Journal what He whispers – then do it!

Let Him show you how amazing He is!

Prayer

Lord, You are faithful, strong, and perfect in all Your ways. Thank You for rescuing me, guiding me, and delighting in me. Help me walk in humility and integrity, trusting You to lead me, strengthen me, and fight my battles. I choose You—today and always. Amen.
