Called, Even When We Feel Unworthy: Moses Example To Believed in Exodus 2

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Exodus 2:11-3:22, Matthew 17:10-27, Psalm 22:1-18, Proverbs 5:7-14

Lord, Send Me!

In Exodus 3, Moses has an unexpected encounter with God in a burning bush. What begins as curiosity quickly becomes holy ground. Moses realizes he is standing in the presence of the living God.

Then God speaks words that change everything. “So now, go. I am sending you…” (Exodus 3:10). In that moment, God reveals Moses’ true identity and purpose. He is no longer just a shepherd in the wilderness. He is a deliverer. A leader. A chosen vessel.

But Moses does not respond with confidence. He responds with fear.

“Who am I that I should go?”
“What if they don’t believe me?”
“What if I say the wrong thing?”
“I’m not good with words.”
“Please send someone else.”

One protest after another pours out of him.

Moses looks at his past.
He remembers his failure.
He feels unqualified.
He doubts himself.

And fear takes over.

Yet God never withdraws the calling. Instead, He gives Moses a promise: “I will be with you.” That is the key.

God does not say, “You are strong enough.”
He says, “I am with you.”

God does not say, “You have everything you need.”
He says, “I will supply what you lack.”

God does not say, “You won’t be afraid.”
He says, “You won’t be alone.”

Moses will go on to face Pharaoh, lead a nation, witness miracles, and walk in God’s presence. Not because he was perfect—but because God was faithful. And this is how God works with us too.

When God calls us, fear often speaks first.

We think:
“I’m not ready.”
“I don’t know enough.”
“I’ve failed before.”
“I’m too weak.”
“Someone else could do this better.”

But God sees what we cannot yet see. He sees who He is making us. He sees what He has placed inside us. He sees the future He is preparing. Our calling is not based on our ability. It is based on His presence.

Just like Moses, we may feel unsure.
Just like Moses, we may hesitate.
Just like Moses, we may try to talk ourselves out of obedience.

But if God has spoken, He will also sustain. If God has sent, He will also go with us. And when we step forward in faith, we will see Him move. If we truly believe this, we can rise in faith and boldly say, “Lord, here I am. Send me.” 💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take 5 quiet minutes today to seek God’s presence and ask Him:

  • What do You want me to know about this today, Lord?
    • Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?
    • Journal what He whispers – then do it!

Let Him speak true, godly identity in to you today. Let Him show you who you are and what you are meant to do!

Prayer

Father God,
Thank You for calling me even when I feel unready. Thank You for seeing my purpose before I can see it myself. Thank You for giving Your Son to make all things possible for me. Help me not to let fear, doubt, or past mistakes silence Your voice. Teach me to trust Your presence more than my weakness. Give me courage to obey, faith to believe, and peace to follow wherever You lead. I know that if You are with me, I will not fail. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
