Jesus Our High Priest: Washed, Sealed, and Carried Into God’s Presence

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Exodus 39:1-40:38, Mark 1:1-28, Psalm 35:1-16, Proverbs 9:11-12

This is the Good News!

Today we see something beautiful in Exodus 39–40: the completion of the High Priest’s garments and the setting up and anointing of the Tabernacle. When everything was done exactly as the Lord instructed, the glory of God came and filled the Tabernacle. His presence dwelled among them.

The High Priest wore stones engraved with the names of the tribes of Israel on his shoulders and over his heart. He literally carried their names into the presence of God.

This is the Good News spoken of in Mark 1:1.

Jesus is our High Priest.

He bears us on His shoulders.
He carries our names over His heart.
He brings us into the presence of the Father and gives us right standing before Him.

Before the priests could minister, they had to be washed. They were cleansed and set apart before entering God’s presence. In Mark 1, we see John the Baptist teaching this principle. Baptism became the public declaration of repentance and faith in the coming Messiah — an outward sign of entering covenant with God.

Even Jesus was baptized “to fulfill all righteousness.” Not because He needed cleansing, but to establish the pattern.

Repent.
Believe.
Enter covenant.
Be sealed.

When we choose God and enter into covenant with Him through Christ, we are sealed to Him. We are no longer distant spectators. We are carried.

David understood this in Psalm 35. He saw God as defender, protector, and deliverer. God fights for those who belong to Him. He carries us through opposition, hardship, and even our own weakness.

And Proverbs 9:11–12 tells us this is wisdom:

“For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.”

Choosing Jesus is wisdom. Entering covenant with Him is life. If we are wise, we benefit. Not only in this life, but eternally.

To be sealed to Him is to be carried by Him — now and forever.

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Ask yourself today: Have I truly entered covenant with Christ — not casually, but fully? If so, live sealed. Walk as one carried. If not, do not delay wisdom. Then ask the Lord to reveal to you His desires for you today. Ask Him:

  • Lord what do You want me to know about this today?”
    • Journal what He reveals to you by His Holy Spirit.
  • Then ask, “Lord, what do you want me to do?”
    • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Let today be a renewal for you through God. 💎

Prayer

Lord Jesus, my High Priest, thank You for carrying my name on Your shoulders and over Your heart. I choose You. I repent of my sin and enter covenant with You. Seal me by Your Spirit. Carry me into the Father’s presence and help me walk as one who belongs to You. Teach me to live wisely, knowing that eternal life is found in You alone. Amen.
