The Lamb Who Takes It All: Leviticus Reveals Jesus

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Leviticus 1:1-3:17, Mark 1:29-2:12, Psalm 35:17-28, Proverbs 9:13-18

Behold, the Lamb of God

Many people struggle when they reach Leviticus. It feels detailed, repetitive, and filled with instructions about sacrifices, blood, and offerings. But if you slow down, you will see something breathtaking. Every detail has meaning and symbolism.

Leviticus opens with God teaching His people how to approach Him.

Burnt offerings. Grain offerings. Peace offerings.
Each one required something costly.
Each one required surrender.
Each one required blood.

Why?

Because sin is serious.
Because separation from God is serious.
Because reconciliation requires sacrifice.

But here is the beauty: every single offering in Leviticus whispers the name of Jesus.

When God instructed the Israelites to bring a lamb “without defect,” He was painting a picture. When the worshiper laid their hand on the animal before it was sacrificed, it symbolized transfer—my guilt for its innocence.

Leviticus is not about endless slaughter.
It is about a holy God making a way.

And then we turn to Mark.

In Mark 1:29–34, Jesus heals Peter’s mother-in-law. He casts out demons. He heals many who were sick with various diseases. Nothing intimidates Him. Nothing overwhelms Him. He has authority over sickness. He has authority over torment. He has authority over sin.

In Mark 2:1–12, a paralyzed man is lowered through a roof. Before Jesus heals his body, He says something even greater:

“Your sins are forgiven.”

The scribes were offended.
But Jesus was revealing something powerful.

He is the sacrifice.

He is the Lamb of God.

All the burnt offerings in Leviticus pointed to Him. All the blood shed on altars pointed to His blood. All the laying on of hands pointed to the cross, where our sin would be transferred onto Him.

He not only heals infirmities.
He takes away sin.
He not only casts out demons.
He restores souls.

Nothing is too big for Him. Not your weakness. Not your struggle. Not your shame. Not your past.

Leviticus shows us the cost.
Mark shows us the fulfillment.

Jesus is the Lamb who takes it all.

And now He says to you:

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) 💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Come to Him today, even for just 5 minutes. Don’t stay at a distance studying the sacrifice—receive it. Bring Him your sin, your sickness, your fear, your exhaustion. Lay it at His feet. Ask Him:

  • Lord, what do You want me to know about this today?”
    • Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
  • Then ask, “What do you want me to do?”
    • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Allow Him to reach into your heart today and heal every part.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Thank You for becoming the sacrifice I could never be. I bring You my burdens, my weaknesses, and my struggles today. Forgive me, cleanse me, heal me, and restore me. Teach me to come boldly and confidently to You. I receive Your forgiveness. I receive Your healing. I receive Your rest. In Jesus’ name, amen.
