Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Numbers 26:52-28:15, Luke 3:1-22, Psalm 61:1-8, Proverbs 11: 16-17
Be Ready
This morning, the Lord spoke something very clear to my heart:
“Tell them I am coming soon and they need to prepare their hearts for My return.”
As I sat with that, I opened today’s reading and began to see what a prepared heart truly looks like.
In Numbers 27, the Lord tells Moses that his time has come—that he will soon die and not enter the Promised Land. This is a heavy moment, one that could have been filled with disappointment, resistance, or even fear. But Moses responds differently. His heart is not turned toward himself, but toward God and the people. He trusts the Lord completely and even asks Him to appoint a new leader so the people will be cared for. There is no striving, no arguing—only trust, humility, and love.
Moses was ready.
He was ready because his life had already been lived in relationship with God. He knew Him. He trusted Him. He loved Him. His heart had been prepared long before this moment ever came.
Then we see in Luke 3 the life of John the Baptist. He lived set apart, honoring God in the wilderness, preaching truth boldly, and calling people to repentance. His life was not casual or distracted—it was intentional and focused. He was preparing the way for the Messiah, but in doing so, he was also living ready for Him. John didn’t wait for the moment to come; he lived every day in expectation of it.
And then David says in the Psalms:
“I will sing praises to your name forever as I fulfill my vows each day.” (Psalm 61:8, NLT)
Each day.
Not occasionally. Not when it’s convenient. Daily.
As I read these, the question settled deeply in my spirit: Are we ready?
Not just in what we say—but in how we live.
What vows have we made to the Lord? Have we followed through with them, or have they become distant promises we once meant but no longer walk out? Readiness is not something we suddenly choose in a single moment. It is something that is formed in us over time, through daily obedience, daily surrender, and daily relationship with God.
Moses was ready because he walked with God.
John was ready because he lived for God.
David was ready because he honored God daily.
And we are called to the same.
If you feel like you are not ready, don’t turn away—turn toward Him. Let Him renew your heart and mind. Let Him restore what has drifted and strengthen what has weakened. He is not calling you to perfection, but to relationship, obedience, and faithfulness.
Because He is coming.
And those who know Him, walk with Him, and live for Him will not be caught off guard—they will be ready to meet Him with peace, confidence, and joy. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take a few quiet moments today and sit with the Lord. Ask Him honestly,
- “What do You want to tell me about this Lord,?”
- Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask Him, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers – then do it!
Choose to know Him a little bit more today, deepen your relationship with Him and let Him prepare your heart with His love and presence.
Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for loving me enough to call me to be ready. Thank You that You desire my heart, not just my words. Search me and show me where I am not aligned with You. Remind me of the vows I have made and give me the strength to walk them out daily. Renew my heart and mind so I can live ready for Your return—not in fear, but in love, trust, and obedience. Draw me closer to You each day so that when You come, I will be ready to meet You with joy. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
