Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Joshua 3:1-4:24, Luke 14;7-35, Psalm 80:1-19, Proverbs 12:27-28
Faith To Move Mountains
There is something very simple, yet profoundly powerful, in what the Lord is saying this morning in this Gem of Knowledge:
“Become like Me by spending time with Me. Learning My ways and My will. You will see My heart for you and learn how to become stronger, wiser, more powerful in Me. Your faith will then move mountains.”
So often, we focus on what we need to do to grow. We try to become stronger, wiser, more faithful… but we approach it like a list to accomplish instead of a relationship to enter into.
But God is showing us something different: We don’t become like Him by striving – We become like Him by being with Him.
In today’s reading, we see the Israelites preparing to cross the Jordan in Joshua 3–4. This wasn’t just a physical crossing—it was a moment that required trust, obedience, and attention to God’s leading. They were told to follow the Ark of the Covenant, but not to rush ahead… to keep a distance so they could clearly see the way they were to go.
That is what He is trying to say to us – follow Me and don’t rush ahead…Stay close enough that you can clearly see the way to go.
They had never been this way before. And because of that, they needed to stay focused on God’s presence, not their own understanding.
Isn’t that exactly where we find ourselves?
We don’t always know what’s ahead. We don’t always feel equipped. But the answer isn’t to figure everything out—it’s to stay close enough to God that we can see Him clearly and follow.
Jesus echoes this same principle in Luke 14, where He speaks about humility, surrender, and counting the cost of following Him. This isn’t a casual walk. It’s a life of learning His ways, aligning with His will, and allowing Him to reshape us from the inside out.
And here’s the beautiful part… As we spend time with Him, something begins to change.
We start to see His heart—not just for others, but for us.
We begin to understand how He thinks, how He moves, what He values.
And without even realizing it, we begin to reflect Him.
Strength comes—not from trying harder, but from abiding in Him.
Wisdom grows—not from striving, but from listening to Him.
Power increases—not from control, but from surrender to Him.
Psalm 80 is a cry for restoration, for God to come and shine His face upon His people again. This is what we need most—His presence. Because when He is near, everything changes.
And Proverbs reminds us that the path of righteousness leads to life. God is righteous, and He is the One who makes us righteous. It is through Him that we are able to walk this path—our own Highway of Holiness with the Lord.
What an amazing thought. And the best part is… it’s true. This is exactly what He promises His people when we come to Him.
If you want to become like Him… You just need to be with Him. Because when you spend time with Jesus, you don’t stay the same. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Set aside 5 quiet minutes with the Lord today—no agenda, no rush. Ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want to show me about this today?”
- Write down what He reveals.
- Then ask Him, “What do You want me to do?”
- Write down what He reveals – then do it!
Let today be a day of becoming stronger, wiser, and more powerful in Him.
Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for inviting me into relationship with You, not just a list of things to do. Teach me how to spend time with You in a way that is real and life-giving. Help me to learn Your ways and understand Your heart. I don’t want to strive to become something on my own. I want to become more like You by being with You. Strengthen my faith as I draw near, and help me to trust You in every step I take. Shape me, lead me, and transform me from the inside out. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, amen.
