Jesus stands beside a woman as powerful lightning strikes an enormous mountain, splitting it apart and sending massive rocks flying through the air.

Trusting God’s Power

Have you ever faced something so overwhelming that it seemed impossible to overcome? Maybe it was a situation you couldn’t change, someone determined to come against you, or an obstacle so enormous you couldn’t imagine a way around it.

Sometimes the mountains before us seem immovable, and the opposition against us feels stronger than we are. But we serve a God who isn’t intimidated by mountains, enemies, or impossible circumstances!

This morning the Lord whispered this Gem of Knowledge to me:

“I have the power to cut and divide even the highest mountains. Trust Me when I say I will put your enemies under your feet. I will divide them asunder if you are righteous and faithful. amen.”

I have to share something funny. When I received this Gem, I had to look up the word asunder because that’s certainly not a word I would normally use! LOL!

And guess what it means? To be separated into pieces or forcefully torn apart!

WOW! Think about that for a moment. God isn’t merely saying He can move an obstacle out of our way. He’s reminding us that He has the power to split apart even the greatest opposition against us!

In today’s reading from Jeremiah 37–38, we find Jeremiah facing tremendous opposition because he faithfully proclaimed God’s Word. He was falsely accused, beaten, imprisoned, and eventually lowered into a muddy cistern where he could have died.

Yet Jeremiah refused to change God’s message simply to please the people threatening him. Even when King Zedekiah privately asked him what God had said, Jeremiah remained faithful to the truth.

And God had not forgotten him.

Through Ebed-melech, a man who courageously intervened on Jeremiah’s behalf, God provided a way for Jeremiah to be rescued from the cistern.

But notice something important. Jeremiah wasn’t immediately freed from every difficulty. He remained confined in the courtyard of the guard. God’s protection didn’t mean the absence of hardship, but His purposes continued despite the opposition.

Sometimes we expect God to remove every enemy and obstacle the moment we ask. But His victory may look different from what we imagine. He may change our circumstances, provide an unexpected rescuer, or give us the strength to remain faithful while He works.

And we must remember that our enemies aren’t always people. Sometimes the greatest opposition comes through fear, deception, temptation, or the spiritual forces seeking to pull us away from God.

In 1 Timothy 6, Paul urges Timothy to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. He also encourages him to fight the good fight of faith.

What a beautiful reminder that our responsibility isn’t to fight people or seek revenge. It’s to remain faithful, walk in righteousness, and trust God with the outcome.

Proverbs 25:28 says, “A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.” When opposition comes, we must guard our hearts rather than allowing anger, fear, or bitterness to leave us defenseless.

Even Psalm 89 reminds us that God’s people sometimes experience seasons when His promises seem far away. The psalmist cries out in distress, yet still ends with praise to the Lord.

What faith it takes to praise God before we see the victory!

Whatever mountain stands before you today, remember that its size doesn’t determine your outcome. The power of the One who stands with you is greater than anything standing against you.

Remain faithful. Walk in righteousness. Keep your heart surrendered to Jesus. And trust Him to deal with the mountains and opposition in His perfect wisdom and timing.

After all, if God can divide the highest mountains asunder, what could possibly be too difficult for Him?💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take time to be with the Lord today, even if its just 5 minutes. Ask Him:

  • “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
    • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
    • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Let today be the day you stop measuring the size of your mountain and start trusting the power of your God!

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for being my Protector. You are the Lord of Heavens Armies! Who could stand against You? There is no mountain is too high and no obstacle is too great for You. Forgive me for the times I’ve allowed fear, frustration, or opposition to distract me from trusting You. Help me remain righteous and faithful, even when circumstances seem impossible. Guard my heart against bitterness and give me the courage to stand firm in Your truth. I surrender my battles to You, trusting that You know exactly how and when to bring victory. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, amen.
