Jesus stands among a diverse gathering of women worshiping together, gently resting His hand on a woman's shoulder as she closes her eyes in peace, surrounded by warm golden light.

Finding Rest in God’s Presence

Today is women’s conference day, and I am so excited! There’s something beautiful about women coming together to worship the Lord, encourage one another, and grow in their relationship with Jesus. Conferences like this give us an opportunity to step away from the noise and demands of the world, realign our hearts with the ways of God and His Kingdom, and be refreshed, strengthened, and empowered to walk in His purposes.

And isn’t that something we all need from time to time? The world is constantly telling us what we should pursue, how we should measure success, and where we should find our identity and worth. But God’s Kingdom operates differently. He calls us to seek Him first, trust His wisdom above our own, and find our peace and security in His presence rather than our circumstances.

How fitting that this morning the Holy Spirit gave me this beautiful Gem of Knowledge:

“Peace I give unto you. Peace, be still. I am here. I will never leave. I’m taking every step with you. Good or bad, I am with you, and I will lead you on the path of righteousness for my name’s sake. So fear not. Do not be wearied. Have peace and rest in me often as we continue this journey of life together.”

What a beautiful reminder that we don’t have to navigate this life alone! God isn’t simply watching from a distance, hoping we make the right decisions. He is actively involved in our lives, teaching, guiding, encouraging, and walking with us through every experience.

In today’s reading, Psalm 106 recounts how the Israelites repeatedly lost sight of God’s goodness. Despite witnessing His miraculous deliverance, they became impatient, gave in to worldly desires, and turned away from His guidance.

Psalm 106:13 (NLT) says:

“Yet how quickly they forgot what he had done! They wouldn’t wait for his counsel!”

Isn’t that exactly what can happen when we allow the world’s influence to become louder than God’s voice? We begin pursuing things that promise happiness, fulfillment, or security, only to discover that none of them can provide the lasting peace our souls desire.

That’s why taking time to gather in God’s presence, worship together, study His Word, and encourage one another is so valuable. It helps us recognize where we’ve become distracted and reminds us of what truly matters.

In Hebrews 8, we’re introduced to the beautiful new covenant established through Jesus Christ. God doesn’t simply want us following a set of religious rules. He desires a personal relationship with us, one in which His ways become written upon our hearts.

“And I will be their God, and they will be my people.” — Hebrews 8:10 (NLT)

What a privilege! We belong to Him, and He invites us to know Him intimately. As we spend time in His presence, our hearts begin to align with His, our perspectives change, and we learn to see ourselves and the world around us through the truth of His Word.

In Ezekiel 17, God describes taking a tender sprig and planting it Himself, where it will grow into a magnificent tree that provides shelter for birds of every kind. What begins as something small becomes something beautiful and fruitful because God is the One who establishes it.

I love that picture because it reminds me that God has a purpose for each of us. As we allow Him to establish us in His truth, He strengthens us, helps us grow, and equips us to become a blessing to others.

And when life becomes overwhelming, we can remember the words Jesus spoke to the raging storm: “Silence! Be still!” (Mark 4:39, NLT)

The same Jesus who calmed the wind and waves is with us today. His peace isn’t dependent upon the absence of trouble but upon His presence in the midst of it.

Whether you’re attending a conference today, spending time with your family, working, or simply going about your daily responsibilities, remember that you can enter His presence wherever you are. You don’t have to wait for a special event to be refreshed, encouraged, or strengthened by Him.

God is inviting us to exchange the world’s expectations for His truth, our striving for His peace, and our uncertainty for the confidence that comes from walking with Him. 💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:

  • “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
    • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
    • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Take some time today to examine where your heart and priorities may have become influenced by the world rather than God’s Kingdom. Invite the Holy Spirit to realign your thoughts, renew your peace, and strengthen you for the purposes He has prepared for you. And if you have the opportunity, encourage another woman in her walk with Jesus!

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for Your constant presence and the peace You give so freely. Help me recognize the ways I’ve allowed the world’s expectations and distractions to pull my attention away from You. Realign my heart with Your truth, renew my mind, and strengthen me to walk in Your ways. I pray especially for every woman gathering in Your name today. May hearts be healed, burdens lifted, faith renewed, and lives transformed by Your love. Teach us to rest in You often and walk confidently in the purposes You have prepared for us. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
