Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Numbers 14:1-15:16, Mark 14:53-72, Psalm 53:1-6, Proverbs 11:4
I Am The Way
There comes a moment in every life when a person realizes that the world does not have the answers.
We search for security in systems, people, success, and solutions we think we can control. But sooner or later, we discover that the things we trust most cannot truly save us.
God waits patiently for that moment—when our hearts finally recognize our need for Him.
In Numbers 14, the people of Israel reached a crossroads. After hearing the report about the Promised Land, fear spread throughout the entire community. Instead of trusting the Lord who had rescued them from Egypt, they began to worry, complain, and panic about enemies they believed were stronger than they were.
They forgot the miracles they had witnessed.
They forgot the presence of God among them.
In their fear, they even said it would be better to return to Egypt.
But Joshua and Caleb saw the situation differently. They trusted God’s promise rather than the obstacles before them.
Numbers 14:8–9 (NLT)
“If the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us… Do not rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us… The Lord is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!”
Faith saw God.
Fear saw giants.
Yet the people were so hardened in unbelief that they began talking about stoning Joshua and Caleb.
Even though God had performed miracle after miracle among them, many still refused to trust Him.
The Lord asked a heartbreaking question:
Numbers 14:11 (NLT)
“How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?”
This same struggle still exists today.
Many people search everywhere for answers—politics, wealth, relationships, philosophies—yet ignore the One who holds every answer.
God is not hiding from us.
He is waiting.
Waiting for hearts to stop running to the world and finally turn toward Him.
Psalm 53 reminds us that the true problem is not a lack of evidence—it is a lack of seeking.
Psalm 53:2 (NLT)
“God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.”
The Lord invites us to lay down our fears, our striving, and our endless searching.
Instead of worrying about what we cannot control, He calls us to something far simpler and far more powerful:
Come to Him.
Read His Word.
Seek His face.
When we do, we discover that the One we were searching for has been waiting for us all along.
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes today to seek the Lord. Open His Word, talk to Him honestly, and ask Him to soften your heart where fear or doubt may have taken root. Ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want me to know about this today?”
- Journal what He reveals to you by His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He reveals to you – then do it!
Choose to trust only Him today.
Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I have searched for answers everywhere except with You. Soften my heart and help me trust You fully. Teach me to quiet my fears and come to You with faith instead of worry. I want to seek Your face and follow Your ways. In Your might name I pray, amen.
