Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Numbers 15:17-16:40, Mark 15:1-47, Psalm 54:1-7, Proverbs 11:5-6
God spoke something very simple to my heart this morning:
“Tell them there is always more. Show them the way to Me.”
Sometimes we think we understand God.
We learn doctrine, we develop theology, and we build systems that help us make sense of Scripture. But if we are not careful, those things can quietly become walls around our hearts. Instead of helping us know God more deeply, they can make us believe we have already arrived.
The passages in Numbers and Mark reveal something sobering about the human heart.
In Numbers 15–16, God gives His people instructions, reminders, and even symbols meant to help them stay close to Him. He provides offerings for unintentional sin, instructions for living in obedience, and tassels on their garments so they would remember His commands and remain holy.
God was giving them everything they needed to walk with Him.
Yet in the very next chapter, Korah and others rise up in rebellion. They question the authority God had established and assume they know better. Pride convinces them that they already understand everything that matters.
Instead of humbly seeking God, they resist Him.
The same pattern appears in Mark 15.
The religious leaders of Jesus’ day were experts in Scripture. They knew the law, the prophecies, and the traditions of their faith. Yet when the Son of God stood right in front of them, they rejected Him.
Why?
Because their understanding had become fixed. Their doctrines had become rigid. Their pride kept them from recognizing that God was doing something greater than what they expected.
They thought they knew God.
But there was more.
Not long after the Lord began pulling me out of an oppressive religious system, He spoke something to my heart that I have never forgotten:
“Allow Me to be the God that I am, not the god man wants Me to be.”
How often do we shape God into something manageable—something that fits comfortably within our doctrines, traditions, or expectations? When we do that, we risk missing the fullness of who He truly is.
The truth is that we will never fully exhaust the depths of God’s wisdom, His kingdom, or His ways.
No matter how much we learn, there is always more to discover about His love, His truth, and His presence.
Pride tells us we have arrived.
Humility reminds us we are still learning.
God is not looking for people who think they know everything. He is looking for hearts that remain teachable, hungry, and humble enough to keep seeking Him.
There is always more of His grace.
More of His truth.
More of His presence.
And the way to find it is simple: keep coming to Him. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes today and seek the Lord’s presence. Close your physical eyes and seek with your spiritual eyes. Then ask Him:
- “Lord, what do you want me to know about this today?”
- Write down what He reveals to you.
- Then ask Him, “What do You want me to do?”
- Write what He tells you – then do it!
Let Him show you a little more Truth – a little more Presence…a little bit more of what He wants to show you.
Prayer
Lord, keep my heart humble before You.
Protect me from pride that believes I have already understood everything about You.
Teach me to allow You to be who You truly are, not who I expect or assume You to be.
Open my eyes to see more of Your truth, Your kingdom, and Your ways.
Lead me deeper into Your wisdom and guide me closer to You.
Amen.
