Today’s One year Bible Verses: Numbers 24:1-25:18, Luke 2:1-35, Psalm 59:1-17, Proverbs 11:14
Choose Truth Instead
Today the Lord spoke this Gem of Knowledge:
“Deception is a trap for the deceiver, no one else. Don’t be deceived into thinking it will help you.”
At first glance, deception can seem like a solution. We may think that hiding the truth, bending the facts, or covering a mistake will protect us from consequences.
But deception never truly protects anyone.
It only traps the one who practices it.
In Numbers 25, we see how seriously God views deceit. The Midianites used deception to lure the Israelites into worshiping a false god. What appeared to be harmless compromise was actually a calculated spiritual attack designed to pull God’s people away from Him.
Later the Lord says:
Numbers 25:18 (NLT)
“They attacked you with deceit and tricked you into worshiping Baal of Peor.”
This shows us something important: deception is not just a social mistake or a harmless lie—it is a form of spiritual assault.
It pulls people away from truth, away from God, and ultimately away from life.
Yet deception rarely looks dangerous at first.
Sometimes we deceive to hide embarrassment.
Sometimes we deceive to protect our image.
Sometimes we deceive because we think it will help us avoid consequences.
And for a moment, it might seem like it works.
But that temporary relief is exactly where the trap lies.
Deception may act like a bandage in the moment, but underneath it quietly creates a deeper wound. Over time it leads to broken trust, spiritual distance from God, and consequences that grow far greater than the original problem. The good news is that once we recognize the trap, we can choose not to step into it.
Truth, on the other hand, brings freedom.
God never asks us to hide our weaknesses from Him. He invites us to bring them honestly before Him so He can heal, correct, and restore us.
The enemy wants us to believe deception will save us.
God reminds us that truth is what sets us free.
When we walk in truth—even when it is uncomfortable—we walk in the light of God’s protection and wisdom.
And that path always leads to life. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today and ask Him:
- “Lord, what do you want to say to me about this?”
- Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask Him, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He reveals – then do it!
Let today be a day of choosing honesty before God, trusting that His grace and wisdom are always better.
Prayer
Lord, help me walk in truth in every area of my life. Guard my heart from deception and from the temptation to hide my mistakes. Give me the courage to live honestly before You, trusting that Your grace is always greater than my failures. Lead me in Your truth and keep my heart aligned with You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
