Seeing What God Sees | Learning To Use Your Spiritual Eyes

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Deuteronomy 5:1-6:25, Luke 7:11-35, Psalm 68:19-35, Proverbs 11:29-31

Eyes To See

God whispered another Gem of Knowledge for me today. He said,

“Not all things are as they seem. You must learn to see with your spiritual eyes to see the truth. Come to Me, and I will help you see.”

It made me realize we usually only look at life through our physical eyes and have forgotten we have spiritual eyes at all. Have you ever looked at a situation and thought you understood it… only to realize later you completely misread it? Or maybe you have thought, “there must be a reason…”?

That’s exactly what the Lord is addressing today with this Gem.

Not everything is as it seems.

In Deuteronomy 6, God gives His commands to His people. At a glance, they can feel like rules or restrictions. But in truth, they are love, protection, and guidance. Without spiritual understanding, they look limiting. With spiritual eyes, they lead to life.

Then we come to Luke 7 today, and we see this play out in real life.

A widow is walking in a funeral procession—her only son has died. To everyone else, it’s over. Final. Nothing can be done.

But Jesus sees something different.

He steps in and restores life.

What looked like the end… wasn’t the end at all.

Later, Jesus speaks about John the Baptist and the people’s response to both of them. Some said John was too extreme. Others said Jesus was too relaxed. No matter what they saw, they found a reason to reject it.

Why?

Because they were judging by outward appearance, preference, and expectation—not truth.

They couldn’t see clearly.

But here is a doozie! Jesus said no one was greater than John the Baptist… no one.

“Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of God is greater than he is!”

What does this even mean??

Jesus was showing us that John was great—but he was living under the old covenant and didn’t have the incredible gift we’ve been given: access to the Kingdom and the Holy Spirit!

When Jesus died on the cross, the veil was torn, and we were given full access to God—His Spirit dwelling within us—and access to His Kingdom with power and authority.

Wow! This is incredible when you really think about it.

Psalm 68:19 says, “Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms.” But if we’re honest, life doesn’t always feel that way. Some days feel heavy, confusing, or uncertain.

Yet the truth remains—He is carrying you, even when you don’t perceive it.

And Proverbs 11 reminds us that what looks like gain can actually lead to emptiness, and what looks slow or unnoticed can produce lasting fruit.

What appears good isn’t always God…
And what is God doesn’t always look impressive at first.

That’s why we cannot rely on what we see with our natural eyes alone. We must learn to use our spiritual eyes. We must learn to walk in the spirit with the Lord in His Kingdom.

Feelings can mislead.
Circumstances can confuse.
Even our own understanding can be incomplete.

But God sees clearly.

And He doesn’t leave you trying to figure it out on your own.

He says,
“Come to Me, and I will help you see.”

There are things in your life right now that may not make sense. Situations that feel unclear. Moments where you’re wondering what’s really going on.

And God is gently reminding you:

“You’re not seeing the full picture yet.”

When you come to Him—when you slow down, ask Him, and listen—He begins to reveal truth. He brings clarity where there was confusion. He shows you what’s beneath the surface.

And instead of reacting…
You begin to see. 💎🙌

Action (5 Minutes)

Take just 5 minutes to be with God today. Ask Him to help you learn how to walk in the spirit with Him, so you can see what He sees. Ask Him:

  • Lord, what do you want me to know about this today for me personally?”
    • Journal what He whispers.
  • Then ask Him, “What do you want me to do?”
    • Journal what He whispers – then do it!

Be willing to trust Him. Be willing to see in new ways. Trust His perspective over your own.

Prayer

Father,
Thank You that You see all things clearly. When I feel confused, You are not. When I don’t understand, You already know the truth. Teach me not to rely on what I see with my natural eyes alone. Help me to come to You first, to seek Your perspective, and to trust what You reveal. Open my eyes to see truth. Remove confusion, misunderstanding, and false perception. Help me to recognize what You are doing—even when it doesn’t look the way I expected. I want to see as You see, not just as things appear. Lead me, guide me, and give me clarity. In Jesus’ holy name I pray, amen.
