The Majestic Hand of God: Creator, Sustainer, and Father

Scripture Readings: Jeremiah 2:31–4:18, Colossians 1:1–17, Psalm 76:1–12, Proverbs 24:21–22

Behold The Greatness of God

There’s a pattern that shines in Colossians that I don’t want us to miss. Paul says first:

  • “You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News. This same Good News…is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth” (Colossians 1:6, NLT).

Hearing the truth and truly understanding it changes lives. Then he continues:

  • “We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit” (Colossians 1:9–10, NLT).

Do you see it? → Truth + Understanding = Life Changed.
Knowledge of His Will + Spiritual Wisdom and Understanding = A Life that Honors and Pleases God.

The deeper we go in knowing Him, the more our lives transform.

Awe Beyond Comprehension

Paul continues: “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth” (Colossians 1:15–16, NLT).

Isaiah tells us He knows every star by name and even knows their weight (Isaiah 40:26). We can’t even begin to count them, but He has them cataloged, ordered, named. He not only created what we can see — but also what we can’t see. Vast galaxies and spiritual realms beyond our imagination — and yet He holds it all together (Colossians 1:17).

Think about it: every orbit, every rotation, every unseen atom in your body is sustained by His hand. The Psalmist says: “You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains” (Psalm 76:4, NLT). At the blast of His breath, creation bursts forth — or disappears.

And yet… He loves the thought of us being His children and calling Him Father. What majesty, what mystery, what mercy!

Tribute to the Awesome One

Psalm 76 continues: “Let everyone bring tribute to the Awesome One. For He breaks the pride of princes, and the kings of the earth fear Him” (Psalm 76:11–12, NLT).

What tribute could we possibly bring to the One who holds galaxies? All He asks is this: our hearts. Our love. Our devotion.

Jeremiah reminds us that the invitation is simple: “Only acknowledge your guilt. Admit that you rebelled against the Lord your God…” (Jeremiah 3:13, NLT). And with that confession comes the promise: “Come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts” (Jeremiah 3:22, NLT).

When we do this, Paul says we will be “strengthened with all His glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father” (Colossians 1:11–12, NLT).

He is beyond comprehension — yet loves us personally. Let us bow in awe, and rise in devotion.

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Today, sit quietly and ponder the majesty of God — Creator of the stars, the galaxies, and every hidden detail of your own life. Picture Him calling each star by name, then whispering your name with equal authority and love. Give Him your heart as your tribute, and ask Him:

  • “Lord, what do you want me to know about this?”
    • Journal what the Holy Spirit whispers.
  • Then ask, “What do you want me to do?”
    • Journal what He whispers then do it!

Prayer

Father, You are the Awesome One — glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains. You hold the stars in place, yet You also hold my heart in Your hand. Forgive me when I’ve walked in rebellion or pride. Today I bring You my tribute: my heart, my love, my devotion. Fill me with Your wisdom, understanding, and power to live a life that reflects You, Lord. Heal my wayward places, fill me with Your Spirit, and strengthen me to live in joyful endurance. Let my life bear fruit that honors and pleases You. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen. 💎

Response to what do YOUwant me to know: God wants me to know how important I am to him, even though I am only like a tiny grain of sand—insignificant, unimportant, useless by itself. But I am important enough that the God of the Universe named me and called me to belong to HIM and join all the other grains of sand that belong to HIM. The entire universe is made up of tiny grains. Together we are a mighty representation of HIM. HE has named us and numbered us among those who will spend eternity with HIM. HE personally calls to each of us to follow HIM and work with HIM for the benefit of HIS Kingdom. We must stick together and not allow ourselves to be weakened by division. Satan is delighted when we separate and, therefore, weaken our effectiveness for the Kingdom.

Response to what do YOU want me to do: The Holy Spirit wants me to use the gifts HE has already given to me before I seek new ones. HE has given me powerful gifts and if I don’t use them for HIM, HE will remove them from me. Loss of those gifts would be like sucking all the oxygen out of my life. I have committed to using HIS gifts for HIS Kingdom without worrying about when, where, why, and with whom. Those things are insignificant compared to HIS Kingdom.

Wow! Yes, my friend, yes! He has been showing me those very same things. We may seem small and insignificant, but just as we think His creation is vast and beautiful, even remarkable – He thinks we are vast and beautiful, even remarkable. It is the world that doesn’t want us to know it, nor does the enemy because of hatred, jealousy, and pride. But He see it in us – He put it in us! After all, we were created in His image (Genesis 1:27). When we are rooted in Him and know our true identity in Him then hatred, jealousy and pride have no place in us, so it cant and wont separate us. May we be knit together as ONE body in Christ, walking in our true identity and sharing our wonderful gifts to glorify His name. Thank you for your beautiful words today. You are wonderful to me. Love you Barb!🩷
