Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Amos 7:1-9:15, Revelation 3:7-22, Psalm 131:1-3, Proverbs 29:23
Choose Hot or Cold
Revelation 3:16 (NLT)
“But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”
There is a consistent theme that runs throughout today’s One Year Bible reading: we will all be judged by God in the end.
In Amos 7–9, we see a prophetic pattern that reflects the end times. First comes tribulation—locusts and fire—times of testing and refining. In the midst of these trials, God sets a plumb line. A plumb line reveals what is straight and what is crooked. It does not bend. God measures His people by truth, not appearances.
Next comes ripe fruit and famine (Amos 8). The fruit is ripe—wickedness has reached its fullness—and God pours out judgment. A famine follows, not of food, but of hearing the Word of the Lord. Rejected truth eventually becomes silence.
Then comes final sifting (Amos 9:1–10). Nothing false remains hidden. The righteous and the wicked are fully separated.
But judgment is not God’s final word. Restoration follows for the faithful (Amos 9:11–15).
Revelation confirms the same message. In Revelation 3:7–13, Jesus promises reward and protection for those who remain faithful. In Revelation 3:14–22, He warns the lukewarm—those who are comfortable, self-sufficient, and spiritually indifferent—that half-hearted faith will not stand.
Psalm 131:1–3 reminds us that Jesus alone is our hope. Salvation is found in humility and childlike trust. And Proverbs 29:23 confirms it: pride leads to destruction, but humility brings honor.
We may or may not see end-times prophecy fully unfold on earth, but every one of us will face this moment when we stand before God. We will be measured. We will be judged.
Jesus ends with mercy:
Revelation 3:20–21 (NLT)
“Look! I stand at the door and knock… To all who are victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne.”
The plumb line is set.
The invitation is still open. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take five minutes with the Lord today and ask:
- “Lord what do you want me to know about this?”
- Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit
- Then ask, “What do you want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers – then do it!
Let today be a day of realigning. Listen. Write what He shows you. Then follow and obey.
Prayer
Lord, measure my heart with Your truth. Remove anything lukewarm, proud, or false. I humble myself before You and place my hope fully in You. I open the door and choose faithfulness. Amen.
