Come and Drink Freely — A New Year’s Invitation from Revelation 22

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Malachi 3:1-4:6, Revelation 22:1-21, Psalm 150:1-6, Proverbs 31:25-31

Drink The Water of Life

As this year draws to a close, the Lord offers us one final invitation—simple, tender, and eternal: Come.

From the very beginning in Genesis 1, when His Spirit hovered over the waters and God spoke creation into being, water has marked the place of His presence. In Eden, a river flowed through the garden where God walked with man. In Ezekiel’s vision, water flowed from the Temple, growing deeper as it went, bringing life wherever it touched. Jesus later revealed that this river was not merely symbolic—He is the Living Water. He alone satisfies the soul, fixes what is broken, and gives eternal life. Through Him, the Holy Spirit now flows like rivers of living water to all who believe—moving God’s people ever closer to His presence, where all separation will one day be removed.

By the time we reach Revelation 21, something striking happens: the sea is gone. The barrier is removed. The separation is no more. And in Revelation 22, what remains is not distance, judgment, or fear—but a river. Life flowing freely from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

This is the heart of God.

The river was never meant to be observed from afar. It was meant to be entered. It is not earned, purchased, or achieved. It is received.

As we stand on the edge of a new year, God is not asking for grand resolutions, perfect plans, or promises of self-improvement. He is asking for something far simpler—and far more powerful: come to Him.

Let this be our New Year’s resolution—not to strive harder, but to draw nearer. Not to carry more, but to drink deeply. Not to fix ourselves, but to remain with the One who can fix it all.

The final message of Scripture is not a warning—it is a beautiful invitation.

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’
Let anyone who hears this say, ‘Come.’
Let anyone who is thirsty come.
Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.”

(Revelation 22:17, NLT)

As this year ends and another begins, let our only resolution be this: to come, to drink, and to remain with Him. Come—and drink freely from the Water of Life.

Hallelujah and amen. 💧✨💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Set aside five quiet minutes today—before the noise of celebration or reflection begins.

Sit with the Lord and ask:

  • Lord, what do You want me personally to know about this today?
    • Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit.
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
    • Journal what He whispers – then do it!

Do not rush away before He can answer. Spend time with Him. Let Him speak to you. Let this moment be less about planning and more about receiving. Choose to come to Him just as you are and drink deeply from His presence.

Prayer

Jesus,
You are the Living Water, the One who satisfies every thirsty place in my soul. As this year comes to an end, I release the burdens I have carried and the things I tried to fix on my own. I come to You again—humble, open, and willing. Heal what is broken in me. Restore what has been lost. Fill me with Your life and peace as I step into this new year. I choose to remain with You and trust You to do what only You can do. Amen.
