Don’t Rush Through the Museum

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: 1 Kings 3:3–4:34, Acts 6:1–15, Psalm 126:1–6, Proverbs 16:26–27

Jesus is the Curator of Life

Have you ever visited a large museum and realized there was no way to take it all in during one visit?

Some people walk through quickly, glancing at exhibits as they pass. They see enough to say they were there, but they miss much of what the museum has to offer. Others move slowly. They stop to read the descriptions, examine the details, and appreciate the story behind each display. The difference is not the museum itself. It is how they experience it.

I thought about that this morning when the Holy Spirit whispered this Gem of Knowledge:

“A museum is to enjoy and learn from. Many stations to stop and observe. This is life. With Me, you will get the full experience. Without Me, you could quickly get lost, skim over many beneficial details, and never experience the fullness and wonder of what I have made. Amen.”

What a beautiful picture of the life God has given us.

So often we rush from one responsibility to the next, focused on reaching the end of the day, the end of the week, or the next milestone. We become so focused on getting somewhere that we forget to pay attention to what God is showing us right now.

Yet God never intended life to be merely endured. He designed it to be experienced.

Today’s reading in 1 Kings reminds us of Solomon, who could have asked God for anything. Wealth, power, victory, or long life were all possibilities. Instead, Solomon asked for wisdom. He understood that knowledge alone was not enough. He needed God’s perspective to navigate life well.

God honored that request and gave Solomon wisdom beyond measure.

I wonder how many treasures of wisdom God places before us each day that we simply walk past because we are moving too fast to notice.

In Acts 6, we see the early church growing rapidly. Challenges arose, decisions had to be made, and responsibilities multiplied. Yet amid the busyness, God continued working through ordinary people like Stephen. Others may have seen a servant helping with practical needs, but God saw a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. There was more happening beneath the surface than many realized.

That is often true in our own lives as well.

God is always working behind the scenes. He is teaching, shaping, revealing, and preparing us. But if we are not paying attention, we may miss the lesson entirely.

Psalm 126 paints a beautiful picture of God’s restoration:

“We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy.” (Psalm 126:2, NLT)

The people looked back and suddenly realized all that God had done. What once seemed impossible had become reality. They saw His fingerprints all over their story.

Perhaps that is one reason God invites us to walk closely with Him. He knows that without His guidance, we may overlook the very things that should fill our hearts with wonder.

I came to realize life is not a race through a museum. It is an invitation to walk alongside the Curator Himself.

He knows the significance of every exhibit.

He knows the stories behind every detail.

He knows which lessons we need most.

And when we stay close to Him, we begin to see what we otherwise would have missed.

Faith is not simply reaching the end of the journey. It is learning to appreciate what God is revealing along the way.

Because life is far richer when experienced with the One who designed it.

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take at least 5 minutes to be with the Curator today, Jesus. Ask Him:

  • Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
    • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
    • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Slow down enough today that the Holy Spirit can speak and move in greater ways.

Prayer

Father, thank You for inviting me to walk through life with You. Forgive me for the times I rush ahead and fail to notice the wonders You have placed before me. Open my eyes to the lessons, blessings, and opportunities You want me to see. Give me wisdom like Solomon and help me walk closely enough to hear Your voice and appreciate all that You are doing. Thank You for being my Guide and for allowing me to experience the fullness of life with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
