Come Into His Safety

Yesterday, the Lord’s message carried a sense of urgency: “Now is the time to seek the Lord. Don’t let it wait any longer.” Today, I feel He is showing us a little more of why that invitation is so urgent.

This morning the Holy Spirit whispered in they gem of Knowledge,

“Destruction is coming and I need My people prepared. Come to Me and allow Me to bring you into My safety and care.”

Those are sobering words. I don’t believe they are meant to make us afraid, but I do believe we should take them seriously.

There is a difference between fear and preparation. Fear causes us to panic over what might happen. Preparation causes us to draw close to the One who already knows what will happen. God isn’t telling us to figure out every detail of the future. He is telling us where to run for protection: to Him.

That is exactly what we see in Nehemiah today. He received devastating news about Jerusalem: “The wall of Jerusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire” (Nehemiah 1:3, NLT). The city was exposed and its people were vulnerable.

Nehemiah didn’t ignore the danger, but neither did he panic. His first response was to seek God. He mourned, fasted, prayed, confessed sin, and then, when the time came, acted. God gave him favor with the king, and Nehemiah went to Jerusalem to begin rebuilding what had been destroyed.

When he arrived, he didn’t merely warn the people about danger. He began rebuilding the walls. Gaps had to be closed and broken places restored.

Perhaps the Holy Spirit is asking us to examine our own spiritual walls. Have we allowed compromise, distraction, unforgiveness, pride, or the cares of this world to create openings that shouldn’t be there? Preparing for what lies ahead may have less to do with understanding every prophetic timeline and much more to do with making sure our hearts are fully surrendered to Jesus.

Paul reminds the Corinthians of that same spiritual priority. Life circumstances change, and the things of this world are temporary. Our families, work, possessions, plans, and responsibilities matter, but none of them should become more important than belonging completely to Christ.

Then today’s Psalm we see the beautiful results of someone who prepared their hearts with the Lord:

“How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world” — Psalm 31:19 (NLT)

There it is: “Come to Me.”

In Him, we find goodness, protection, and safety—regardless of what is happening in the world around us.

The same God who warns His children about what is ahead is the God who offers them refuge. His desire isn’t simply that we know destruction is coming. He wants us safely near Him.

That doesn’t mean believers are promised exemption from every hardship. God’s safety is much deeper than a promise that nothing difficult will ever touch us. It is the assurance that when we belong to Christ, nothing can ultimately separate us from Him. He will guide us, strengthen us, give us wisdom, and carry us through whatever lies ahead.

So we don’t need to become obsessed with headlines or consumed with predicting exactly how everything will unfold.

We need to know Jesus. Personally. Intimately. Deeply.

We need to recognize His voice, respond when He speaks, and follow where He leads. If there are broken places in our spiritual walls, now is the time to repair them. If we’ve wandered, now is the time to return.

Yesterday He said, “Seek Me.”

Today He says, “Come to Me.”

Whatever lies ahead, our Father is calling us closer so He can prepare us, lead us, and hold us securely in His care.

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take time to be with the Lord today, even if its just 5 minutes. Ask Him:

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
  • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
  • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Let today be a day of examination and rebuilding with the Lord.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank You for loving me enough to prepare me for what lies ahead. I don’t want to live in fear or unaware. Draw me closer to You and show me anything in my life that needs to be strengthened. Teach me to recognize Your voice and respond when You speak. Whatever lies ahead, help me remain faithful, courageous, and safely within Your care. In Jesus’ beautiful name I pray, amen.
