Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Lamentations 3:1–66 | Hebrews 1:1–14 | Psalm 102:1–28 | Proverbs 26:21–22
Do It For Him
I’ve been so busy lately that it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day! Between work, ministry, family, and all the little things that demand my attention, my to-do list seems to grow faster than I can check things off. And if I’m not careful, I can become so focused on getting everything done that I forget Who I’m doing it all for and why.
Can you relate?
Sometimes we get so caught up in our responsibilities that even the things we love doing can begin to feel like obligations. We rush from one task to another, measuring our days by how much we’ve accomplished rather than how faithfully we’ve served the Lord.
Then this morning, God gave me this beautiful reminder in today’s Gem of Knowledge:
“I will bless all you do when you do it unto Me.”
WOW! What an encouraging promise, especially when we’re feeling overwhelmed by everything that needs to be accomplished!
God never intended for us to accomplish everything in our own strength. When we begin our work with Him, dedicate our efforts to Him, and seek His guidance throughout the day, we’re inviting His wisdom, strength, and blessing into everything we do.
Psalm 90:17 (NLT) says:
“And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!”
I love that! We can ask God to establish the work of our hands, help us accomplish what needs to be done, and make our efforts fruitful. Whether we’re working, caring for our families, serving others, or fulfilling a calling He’s placed on our lives, we can invite Him into every part of it.
But here’s something important: God’s blessing doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll finish every task on our list. Sometimes His blessing comes through helping us recognize what actually needs to be done, what can wait, and what we need to let go of.
After all, being busy doesn’t always mean we’re being fruitful!
In today’s reading from Lamentations, Jeremiah describes tremendous suffering, grief, and devastation. Yet in the middle of his anguish, he makes a remarkable declaration:
“The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” — Lamentations 3:22–23 (NLT)
What a beautiful reminder that every morning is a fresh opportunity to begin again with God! Regardless of yesterday’s disappointments, unfinished tasks, or overwhelming circumstances, His mercy and faithfulness remain.
And when we’re exhausted or frustrated, even our attitudes become opportunities to honor Him.
Proverbs 26:21 warns us that quarrelsome people fuel conflict just as wood keeps a fire burning. How easy it can be to become impatient or irritable when we’re overwhelmed! But when we invite Jesus into our work, we can also ask Him to guide our words, attitudes, and interactions with others.
Hebrews 1 reminds us that Jesus is the One through whom God created the universe and who sustains everything by His mighty power. Think about that! The One who holds all creation together is more than capable of helping us manage the responsibilities He’s entrusted to us.
And He cares about the smallest details of our lives!
So perhaps the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done, take a moment to change your perspective. Instead of seeing another task as something you have to do, consider how you might turn it into an offering to Jesus.
Ask Him to guide your priorities, strengthen your hands, and bless your efforts. And don’t forget to listen! He may show you a better way to accomplish something, bring someone alongside you to help, or simply remind you that some things can wait.
When we put God first in our work, we don’t have to carry the weight of accomplishing everything on our own. We can trust Him to bless our efforts, guide our priorities, and establish the work of our hands.
Our responsibility is to be faithful with what He’s given us. The results belong to Him.💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
- Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He reveals – then do it!
Let today be an offering to God in all you do.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that everything I do can become an opportunity to honor You. Forgive me for the times I’ve become so busy that I’ve lost sight of what matters most. Help me approach every responsibility with love, integrity, and a heart devoted to You. Teach me to serve faithfully, even when no one else notices, and to recognize Your blessings in ways I may have overlooked. May my thoughts, words, and actions bring You glory in everything I do. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.
