Today’s One Year Bible Reading: Ezekiel 14:12–16:41, Hebrews 7:18–28, Psalm 106:1–12, Proverbs 27:4–6
Enjoy the Journey
Have you ever heard the saying, “Stop and smell the roses”? Well, that’s exactly what today’s Gem of Knowledge is about! Sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness of life, planning for tomorrow, working toward our goals, and worrying about what comes next, that we forget to slow down and enjoy the beautiful moments God has placed right in front of us. We become so focused on where we’re going that we forget to appreciate where we are.
This morning, the Holy Spirit gave me a simple but encouraging Gem of Knowledge:
“Enjoy the journey. I have much in store for you. Amen.”
What a wonderful reminder that life with God isn’t just about reaching a destination. It’s about experiencing everything He has for us along the way!
Think about how often we tell ourselves, I’ll be happy when… When the bills are paid, when the project is finished, when the kids are grown, when things finally settle down. But the truth is, there’s always another responsibility, another challenge, or another goal waiting around the corner.
If we keep postponing our joy until everything falls perfectly into place, we may spend our entire lives waiting to enjoy the very life God has given us.
Today’s reading in Psalm 106 begins with a beautiful declaration:
“Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” — Psalm 106:1 (NLT)
Yet just a few verses later, we’re reminded how quickly the Israelites forgot God’s goodness. Even after witnessing His miraculous deliverance from Egypt, they became fearful when they reached the Red Sea. They were so focused on the danger in front of them that they forgot the mighty God who had brought them that far.
And aren’t we sometimes guilty of the same thing?
We remember God’s faithfulness yesterday, but when tomorrow looks uncertain, we begin to worry. We forget that the same God who brought us through the last challenge is already present in the one we’re facing now.
In Ezekiel 16, God recounts how He rescued Jerusalem when she was helpless, cared for her, and blessed her abundantly. Yet instead of remaining grateful and faithful, she turned away from Him and placed her confidence in the very blessings He had provided.
What a sobering reminder that we can become so distracted by the things of this world that we forget the One who gave them to us.
But here’s the beautiful thing about walking with Jesus: our hope isn’t dependent on what tomorrow brings.
Hebrews 7:25 (NLT) tells us:
“Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.”
Jesus isn’t simply waiting for us at the end of our journey. He is actively working on our behalf right now! He knows what lies ahead, understands what we’re facing today, and remains faithful through every season.
When the Lord says, “I have much in store for you,” we don’t have to know exactly what that means. We can trust His goodness without demanding to see the entire plan.
And perhaps that’s part of the joy He wants us to experience: waking up each morning with anticipation, knowing that whatever the day holds, we have an opportunity to discover something new about Him.
There will be mountains to climb, valleys to cross, lessons to learn, and unexpected turns along the way. Not every experience will be easy or pleasant, but every season can become an opportunity to grow closer to God.
So don’t rush through today trying to get to tomorrow. Take time to appreciate what God is doing right now. Celebrate His goodness, learn from His instruction, and look forward to the future with hope.
Because the greatest blessing of the journey isn’t simply what God has waiting for us. It’s the privilege of experiencing life with Him every step of the way.💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
- Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He reveals – then do it!
Instead of focusing on everything you still need to accomplish, pause and thank God for where He has brought you. Look for something beautiful, meaningful, or unexpected in your day. Ask Him to help you recognize His goodness in the present while trusting Him with everything He has planned for your future.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of life and the wonderful journey of walking with You. Forgive me for the times I’ve become so focused on tomorrow that I’ve overlooked Your blessings today. Help me live with gratitude, anticipation, and joy, trusting that You know what lies ahead. Open my eyes to the opportunities You place before me, teach me through every experience, and remind me to enjoy each day in Your presence. Thank You for Your faithfulness and for all You have in store. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
