Speak with the Tongue of Angels

Being Spirit-Filled

There is a powerful connection between what fills us and what flows from us.

We often think of our words as something small or secondary, but Scripture continually shows us that our words carry weight. They reveal what is in our hearts, and they also shape what happens around us. The Lord is not simply calling us to speak more, but to speak from a different source—from His Holy Spirit. This is exactly what He was reminding me this morning with this beautiful Gem of Knowledge. He said,

“Speak with the tongue of angels and watch what happens in your life. Be empowered by My Holy Spirit to fill you and what pours out will be miraculous.”

In today’s reading, we see what happens when decisions and actions are made without seeking the Lord. In Joshua 9, Israel is deceived because they “did not ask the Lord” before making a covenant. What seemed right in the moment led to consequences that followed them. It is a reminder that without God’s guidance, even sincere intentions can miss the mark.

At the same time, Jesus teaches about the condition of the heart and the power of faith-filled words in Luke 17:6:

“The Lord answered, ‘If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, “May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,” and it would obey you!’”

Our words are not separate from our faith—they are an expression of it.

When the Lord says, “Speak with the tongue of angels,” He is inviting us into something deeper than eloquence or intensity. He is calling us to speak from a place that is aligned with heaven. Words that are led by His Spirit will reflect His truth, His love, and His authority.

This does not happen by effort alone. It begins by being filled.

When the Holy Spirit fills us, He begins to transform not only what we think, but what we say. Instead of reacting out of fear, frustration, or self-protection, we begin to respond with words that carry peace, wisdom, and life. What comes out of us starts to look different because it is no longer coming from our own strength.

Proverbs reminds us that desire alone is not enough—it must be aligned with action. In the same way, wanting to speak differently is not enough. We must choose to pause, listen, and allow the Spirit to lead our words.

And here is the promise within this Gem: when we are filled by Him, what flows out will not be ordinary. It will be marked by His presence. Our words can bring encouragement, clarity, healing, and even breakthrough in ways we could never produce on our own.

This is not about striving to sound spiritual. It is about being so connected to Him that what we speak naturally reflects Him.

When your heart is filled with His Spirit, your words will begin to carry His power. 💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take 5 Minutes with God today and bring your words before Him. Ask Him,

  • What do You want me to know about this, Lord?
    • Write down what He reveals to you.
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
    • Write down what He reveals – then do it!

Let your heart and tongue be filled with His Holy Spirit today.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit and for the power of the words You place within us. Forgive me for the times I have spoken from my own thoughts, emotions, or reactions instead of from Your truth. Fill me again today. Align my heart with Yours so that what flows from me reflects You. Teach me to speak with wisdom, with love, and with authority that comes from Your Spirit. Let my words bring life, encouragement, and truth wherever I go. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
