Walk in Peace, He Goes Before You

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Joshua 22:21-23:16, Luke 20:27-47, Psalm 89:14-37, Proverbs 13:17-19

He Is Blazing A Way For You

There is a kind of peace God offers that doesn’t come from everything around us being calm, but from knowing who is going before us. Today the Holy Spirit whispered this reassuring Gem to me,

“Be at peace as you go through your day, for I am with you, making a way and blazing a path before you as I consume your enemies. Nothing will stand against you because nothing can stand against Me. Amen.”

So often, we move through our days trying to anticipate what might happen, preparing ourselves for problems before they even arise. We feel the need to stay alert, to stay ready, as if the outcome depends on how well we can manage what is ahead. But the Lord speaks something very different here. He is not asking us to figure it all out—He is inviting us to walk in peace because He is already moving on our behalf.

In today’s reading, Joshua reminds the people of Israel that it was not their strength that brought them victory, but the Lord who fought for them. He had already gone before them, driving out their enemies and establishing their path. As it is written,

“Each one of you will put to flight a thousand of the enemy, for the Lord your God fights for you, just as He has promised” (Joshua 23:10, NLT).

Their role was not to strive for victory, but to remain faithful to the One who secured it.

This same truth carries into what Jesus teaches in Luke 20. He speaks with authority, not reacting to those who challenge Him, but standing firmly in truth. His responses reveal a confidence that comes from being completely aligned with the Father. He was not shaken by opposition because He was rooted in something greater than it.

Psalm 89 reminds us of the foundation of God’s rule: righteousness and justice, paired with unfailing love and faithfulness. This means that everything He does—every path He makes, every door He opens, every obstacle He removes—is anchored in His character. We are not walking behind uncertainty; we are walking behind a God who is both powerful and trustworthy.

What the Lord is showing us in this Gem today is not just a promise of protection, but an invitation into a different posture. Peace is not something we wait to feel once everything works out. It is something we choose as we trust that He is already at work ahead of us.

When we truly believe that He is making a way and clearing what stands against us, we no longer have to carry the weight of “what if.” We can move forward with a quiet confidence, knowing that nothing we face is greater than the One who goes before us.

You don’t have to fight for your way—He is already making it. 💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take 5 minutes to be with God. Ask Him:

  • Lord, what do You want me to know about this today for me?”
    • Journal what He reveals to you.
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
    • Journal what He gives you – then do it!

Walk in peace and confidence today as you hold tightly to the truth that He is with you and going before you – making a way and destroying your enemies. Praise God!

Prayer

Lord, thank You that I do not walk alone and that I do not have to make my own way. Thank You that You go before me, preparing what I cannot see and removing what I cannot handle on my own. Help me to walk in peace today, not because everything around me is perfect, but because You are with me. Remind me that nothing that stands against me is greater than You. Teach me to trust You more deeply and to rest in the confidence that You are already working ahead of me because You love me and I love You. In Your beautiful name I pray – Jesus Christ, amen.
