Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Judges 17:1–18:31, John 3:1–21, Psalm 104:1–23, Proverbs 14:20–21
Stability in an Unstable World
People can change in a moment. One day they’re steady, the next they’re distant. Emotions shift, circumstances shift, even our own hearts can feel like they’re moving back and forth without warning. It can leave you feeling unsettled—like nothing is solid.
But in the middle of all that shifting, the Lord gently reminds us with today’s Gem, “Like day and night, people can change from one moment to another, but I am constant, forever righteous and holy. Do not sway back and forth, but ground yourself to Me.”
That’s the difference. Everything around us may feel unstable, but He never changes.
In Judges, we see what happens when people lose their anchor—“In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes” (Judges 17:6, NLT). There was no consistency, no truth to stand on, just a constant drifting based on feelings and perception.
And if we’re honest, we can fall into that same pattern—making decisions based on emotion, reacting to circumstances, and wondering why we feel so unstable.
But Jesus offers something entirely different.
In John 3, He speaks of being born again—not just improved, not just adjusted—but completely made new and rooted in something eternal. “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3, NLT). This new life isn’t built on the shifting things of this world—it’s grounded in Him and it is glorious.
When your life is rooted in Christ, you don’t have to sway with everything around you. You’re not at the mercy of people’s opinions, changing emotions, or uncertain circumstances.
There is a place of stability—and it’s not found in people. It’s found in Him.
Ground yourself in Him. Not occasionally. Not just when things fall apart.
But daily. 💎

Prayer
Lord, You are constant when everything else feels uncertain. Help me to stop swaying with the world around me and instead anchor myself fully in You. Help me to know You better and understand Your ways so I can build upon them as my foundation. Make my heart steady in all things as I become more grounded in Your truth. Amen.
