Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Judges 11:1-12:15, John 1:1-28, Psalm 101:1-8, Proverbs 14:13-14
Safe In The Storm
There are things in this world that don’t come from God.
We don’t always like to say it plainly, but Scripture does—there are real forces that oppose Him and work against what He is doing. They bring confusion, destruction, and pain. And when we face those things, it can shake us if we don’t understand what’s really happening.
“Awful things happen because there are awful forces that fight against Me and seek to destroy Me and you. But let the rains fall and the thunder crash—it will never break down the house I build for you and you will be safe with Me. Amen.”
But God does not leave us without truth… or without covering.
In Judges 11, Jephthah rises out of rejection and conflict. His story is messy, shaped by broken relationships and difficult circumstances. Yet even in the middle of that, God is still working. It’s a reminder that not everything we experience is good—but God is still present in it.
Then we come to John 1, and everything becomes clear:
“The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.” (John 1:4, NLT)
Jesus is not just part of the story—He is the answer to everything that opposes it.
Darkness exists… but it does not overcome the Light.
That’s the truth we stand on.
Psalm 101 shows us the posture of a life that remains under God’s covering—choosing integrity, rejecting what is evil, and staying aligned with Him. It’s not about pretending darkness isn’t real; it’s about choosing where we dwell in the middle of it.
Proverbs 14 reminds us that outward appearances can be deceiving:
“Laughter can conceal a heavy heart…” (Proverbs 14:13, NLT)
Not everything is as it seems. Pain, struggle, and pressure are real—but they are not the final word when we stay close to God.
Here’s what is.
When God builds something, it stands.
Storms will come. Pressure will rise. There will be moments that feel overwhelming, confusing, even frightening. But those things do not have the authority to tear down what He has established.
The house He builds is not fragile.
It is not dependent on circumstances.
It is not shaken by opposition.
It is not destroyed by the storm.
Because it is built by Him.
You don’t have to pretend the storm isn’t there. You don’t have to deny the battle. But you do have to remember where you are standing and stay there.
Safe.
Covered.
Held together by something stronger than anything coming against you.
Let the rain fall.
Let the thunder crash.
It will not break what God has built for you. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want me to know about this today?”
- Journal what He reveals to you.
- Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He reveals – then do it!
Stand in that truth of God’s promises for you today.
Prayer
Father,
Help me to see clearly. When things feel overwhelming, remind me that You are greater than anything coming against me. Thank You that what You build cannot be destroyed. Cover me, strengthen me, and anchor me in Your truth. Teach me to rest in the safety You provide. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
