Today’s One Year Bible Verses: 1 Samuel 10:1–11:15, John 6:43–71, Psalm 107:1–43, Proverbs 15:1–3
Today Is The Day
There’s a subtle but dangerous lie that says, “I’ll deal with it later.” It doesn’t sound rebellious. It doesn’t feel urgent. It just quietly convinces you that there’s still time—that you can come back, fix things, or get serious with God when it’s more convenient.
But that delay keeps you stuck longer than you were ever meant to be.
The Lord speaks to that directly in today’s Gem of Knowledge:
“Don’t delay your repentance. It only hurts you. I want to make it right for you. Amen.”
His heart isn’t to shame you or push you away—it’s to restore you. Repentance is not punishment; it is the doorway back into alignment, peace, and freedom.
Psalm 107 paints this picture clearly. Over and over again, people wandered, made choices that led them into trouble, and found themselves in distress. But the moment they turned back and cried out to the Lord, He responded. “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress (Psalm 107:13, NLT).
This wasn’t a one-time response—it’s repeated throughout the psalm, showing us that God’s posture toward us is consistently one of mercy and readiness to rescue.
What keeps us from returning quickly is often the belief that we need to fix things first or that we’ve gone too far. But in John 6, when many people turned away from Jesus because His words were difficult.
He asked the disciples if they would leave too. Peter’s response reveals what repentance really looks like at its core: “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life” (John 6:68, NLT).
Repentance is simply recognizing that there is nowhere else to go that leads to life, and choosing to return to Him.
Even in 1 Samuel, as Saul is established as king, we see a moment where the people are renewed together and reminded that God is still working among them. It reflects the same truth—when hearts turn back, God restores, reorders, and moves forward with His people.
The longer we delay, the longer we remain in something God is already willing to free us from. Not because He is withholding forgiveness, but because we are postponing receiving it.
Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that even small shifts—like how we respond, how we speak, how we align ourselves—can bring peace instead of conflict. Repentance works the same way. It brings us back into alignment with God where peace can flow again.
God is not waiting to condemn you. He is ready to restore you. And the moment you turn back, you step into what He has already been offering all along.
Today is the day to come back. 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 simple minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally today?”
- Journal what He whispers to you.
- Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He whispers by His Holy Spirit – then do it!
If there’s anything the Lord is prompting you to turn from—do it today. Don’t delay.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that You are ready to restore me. Thank You that nothing is too big or too small – that You forgive it all when we bring it to You. Help me not to delay in turning back to You in everything. I surrender anything that is not from You and receive Your forgiveness and freedom. Search my heart, Oh Lord! Amen.
