Today’s One Year Bible Verses: Jeremiah 51:1–53 | Titus 2:1–15 | Psalm 99:1–9 | Proverbs 26:17
Making Time for God
Have you ever noticed how we somehow find time for the things that are important to us? We make time for work, family, appointments, hobbies, and even scrolling through social media. Yet when it comes to spending time with God, how often do we find ourselves saying, “I just didn’t have time today”?
I think most of us have been guilty of that at one time or another. Our days get busy, responsibilities pile up, and before we know it, another day has passed without spending any meaningful time with the One who gave us that day in the first place!
Today’s Gem of Knowledge is a gentle but important reminder:
“There is a time and place for everything – including Me. Make sure you find it so you arent left wanting. Amen”
When I read this, I immediately thought of Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT):
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”
But something about today’s Gem really caught my attention. God isn’t simply reminding us that there’s a time for everything. He’s reminding us that we need to intentionally make time for Him, too!
And I find the last part especially thought-provoking: “Make sure you find it so you aren’t left wanting.”
How often do we go through life feeling like something is missing? We might have everything we need materially, wonderful relationships, and plenty of activities to keep us occupied, yet still feel an emptiness we can’t quite explain.
Could it be that we’re trying to satisfy a spiritual hunger with things that were never intended to fill it?
In today’s reading from Jeremiah 51, we see God’s judgment against Babylon, a nation that had placed its confidence in wealth, power, and false gods. Babylon had everything the world considered valuable, yet none of it could save them when judgment came.
What a reminder that the things of this world, no matter how impressive or satisfying they may seem, can never take God’s place in our lives.
And in Titus 2, Paul encourages believers to live with self-control, wisdom, and devotion to God. He reminds us that God’s grace teaches us to turn away from worldly desires and live in a way that honors Him.
But how can we learn to recognize His guidance if we’re never spending time with Him?
Think about any close relationship. Intimacy doesn’t develop simply because we know someone exists. It grows through spending time together, listening, communicating, and sharing our lives.
Our relationship with God is no different.
Psalm 99 reminds us of God’s holiness and tells us how Moses, Aaron, and Samuel called upon Him, and He answered them. These were people who sought the Lord, listened to His voice, and cultivated a relationship with Him.
And the beautiful thing is, that same God invites us into His presence today!
We don’t have to wait for a special occasion, a church service, or a women’s retreat to experience intimacy with Him. We can meet with Him in our living rooms, while driving to work, during a quiet morning, or even in the middle of a busy afternoon.
But there’s something special about intentionally setting aside time just for Him, without distractions or competing priorities.
God isn’t asking us to squeeze Him into whatever time we have left over. He’s inviting us to make room for the relationship that gives meaning and purpose to everything else.
And when we do, we discover that His presence satisfies a longing nothing else can fill.
So today, consider where God fits into your schedule. Is He someone you visit when you have a spare moment, or is He the One around whom you build your life?
Because there really is a time and place for everything. Just make sure you don’t miss the most important relationship of all! 💎
Action (5 Minutes with God)
Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:
- “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
- Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
- Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
- Journal what He reveals – then do it!
Look at your daily routine and identify a time and place you can intentionally set aside to spend with God. Whether it’s fifteen minutes in the morning, a quiet moment during lunch, or 5 minutes right now make that appointment with Him a priority.
And don’t just talk. Take time to listen, too!
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank You for inviting me into a personal relationship with You. Forgive me for the times I’ve allowed the busyness of life to take priority over spending time in Your presence. Help me recognize that nothing in this world can satisfy my soul the way You can. Teach me to be intentional with my time, to seek You throughout my day, and to make room for You in every area of my life. May I never become so distracted by the things You’ve given me that I neglect You. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, amen.
