Everything Changes When You Align with God

One Year Bible Verses: Joshua 16:1-18:28, Luke 19:1-27, Psalm 87:1-7, Proverbs 13:11

Be Transformed

How we start our day matters more than we realize.

It’s easy to wake up and immediately step into everything that’s waiting for us—responsibilities, distractions, conversations, problems that didn’t go away overnight. Before we know it, we’re already reacting to the day instead of being grounded in anything steady.

But this morning the Lord is inviting us into something different. Instead of rushing ahead, He is asking us to pause and align ourselves with Him first:

“Take time to align yourself with me before you start your day. If you do you will see I am with you, leading you and have great plans for you. Burden will feel lighter, problems will seem smaller and people will have more value. Watch your life change for the better. Amen.”

This alignment changes everything.

When we make time for Him and intentionally pursue Him we shift from the worldy into the spiritual with God. This is where we encounter Him and He begin to move within us in greater ways.

In today’s reading, we see Zacchaeus in Luke 19. He goes out of his way to see Jesus, climbing a tree just to catch a glimpse. There is an intentional pursuit there. He doesn’t wait for the moment to come to him—he positions himself to encounter Jesus. And when he does, everything in his life begins to shift. His priorities change, his heart softens, and his actions follow.

That is what alignment looks like. It’s not complicated, but it is intentional.

When we take time to seek the Lord at the beginning of our day, we are doing the same thing. We are positioning ourselves to see Him, to hear Him, and to walk with Him. And as that happens, our perspective begins to change. The things that once felt overwhelming don’t carry the same weight. Problems that seemed so big begin to shrink in the light of His presence. Even the way we see people begins to shift, because we are no longer viewing them through our own stress or frustration, but through His heart.

David expresses this posture in Psalm 86:

“Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.” (Psalm 86:11, NLT)

This is alignment. It is choosing to let God set the direction before we take our first steps.

Without that, it is easy to move through the day led by our emotions, our thoughts, or whatever is placed in front of us. But when we start with Him, we are reminded that He is already with us, already leading us, and already working out a plan that we may not fully see yet.

Over time, this becomes more than a routine. It becomes a way of living. We begin to desire Him like we desire to breathe – life seems impossible without it.

We begin to notice His guidance in everything throughout our day. We recognize His presence in moments we would have otherwise missed. And we start to see that He really is involved in every part of our lives, not just the moments we set aside for Him.

The promise in this Gem is simple but powerful. When we align ourselves with Him, we begin to see differently. Life doesn’t necessarily become easier in every circumstance, but it becomes lighter because we are no longer carrying it alone.💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Before you step into your day today, take a few quiet moments and simply sit with the Lord – even if it’s only 5 minutes. Ask Him,

  • Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
    • journal what He reveals to you by His Holy Spirit
  • Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
    • Journal what He reveals –then do it!

Don’t rush. Just be with Him, even if it’s only a few minutes. This is where everything changes.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You are with me and that You desire to lead me through every part of my day. Forgive me for the times I have rushed ahead without taking time to align myself with You. Help me to slow down and seek You first. Align my heart with Yours, my thoughts with Your truth, and my steps with Your direction. Remind me throughout the day that You are with me, guiding me, and working in ways I cannot always see. Let my life reflect what happens when I walk with You. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, amen.
