Find Peace Today

Today is my wedding anniversary.

As I was thinking about today’s Gem, it occurred to me how much joy I would miss if I spent today worrying about tomorrow instead of enjoying the gift God has given me right now.

I could spend the day thinking about next week’s responsibilities, next month’s bills, or wondering what the future holds. But if I did, I’d miss the laughter, the memories, the gratitude, and the blessing of celebrating another year with the man God gave me.

How many moments like that have I already missed because my mind was somewhere else?

Then I read today’s Gem of Knowledge:

“Don’t worry about tomorrow. Just focus on today. Right now with Me. I am in everything if you would just look. Amen.”

I smiled because I realized the Lord wasn’t just telling me to stop worrying. He was inviting me to enjoy what He has already placed in front of me.

How many times have I prayed for God to show Himself while completely overlooking the ways He already has? How often have I been so focused on what’s next that I missed what He was doing right in front of me? How often do I pray for Him to be with me when it is promised He would never leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5)?

Tomorrow will come soon enough. But today’s blessings can only be enjoyed today.

Today’s reading in 2 Chronicles reminded me that Hezekiah didn’t wait until everything in Judah was perfect before turning back to God. The Temple had been neglected, the people had wandered, and there was much to restore. Yet Hezekiah understood that God was the answer, so he began by simply taking the next step towards restoring God’s presence among the people. He reopened the Temple, invited the people to celebrate the Passover, and trusted God with the rest.

I wonder how often we’re waiting for the perfect moment before we will move, while God is simply asking us to be faithful in the one we already have. If we won’t do it now, how can He trust us to do it later?

Paul echoes that same thought in Romans 15. Rather than worrying about ourselves, he encourages us to build one another up, follow Christ’s example, and allow God to fill us with joy and peace as we trust Him. Notice that Paul doesn’t say we’ll find peace by figuring out tomorrow. He says peace comes as we trust God.

That happens today.

David understood this in Psalm 25. He didn’t ask God to show him his entire future. He prayed, “Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.” He simply wanted to take the next step.

Maybe that’s all God wants us to focus on too.

God isn’t only waiting for you in tomorrow’s answers… He’s with you in today’s moments.💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
  • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
  • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Throughout your day, intentionally pause and ask yourself, “Lord, where are You in this moment?” Then slow down long enough to notice His voice, His presence, His blessings, His guidance, or the opportunity He has placed right in front of you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, forgive me for spending so much time worrying about tomorrow that I miss what You’re doing today. Help me slow down and recognize Your presence in the ordinary moments of life. Open my eyes to see You at work in the conversations, opportunities, and blessings You place before me. Teach me to trust You one day at a time, one step at a time, and to find peace in walking with You right here, right now. Thank You for being present in every moment. In Jesus’ name, amen.
